Currently waiting on the PayPal transfer into my checking account. They invoiced me but want me to pay the 3% PayPal fee. They gave me the option of sending a check instead. I did say in the beginning of the thread that it could take 2-3 weeks for orders to ship out. I've done many successful group buys and haven't failed anyone yet. Please be patient. I will update when there's info worth posting.

Important update:

I got an email from the owner. There's a small issue. He's phasing out the Pl1 and going to another version, the Pl2. Here are the differences:

1) Turn signals blink yellow to OFF instead of yellow to red.
2) Programming interface has 11 user-selectable brake modulation patterns (instead of choosing only number of pulses in the brake-alert in the PI1 interface).

The blaster-x switch is still used to change settings. The problem is, he has 11 units of the Pl1 and no extra parts to make the remaining 6 that would be needed to fill this gb. Is anyone willing to receive the Pl1 voluntarily? You are still receiving what was promised to you, it's just that 6 people will be getting the new version.

I guess I'm a little confused. Isn't the point of it going from yellow to red is when the brake is pressed? So if the break is pressed it goes from yellow to nothing (off) then to red? Just wondering....thanks

Edit-or is it constantly on red even without the lights on?

No, the yellow to red refers to the integrated blinkers. The brake light system will be changing to the programmable 11 modes. The Pl1 version, when you activate your turn signal, it blinks yellow, then back to red. I'll email to confirm, but it probably means there will be a separate row of yellow LEDs instead of LEDs that change color.

Ok, I got clarification.

Functional difference for turns is as follows:

* PI1 version alternates between red and yellow on the turn signal side when indicating a turn.* Yellow when the turn signal input is +12V, red when it returns to zero.

* PI2 version has a delay that keeps the red LEDs OFF on the turn side so turn signals blink from yellow to off (no red, no yellow) on the side you are turning.* Red LEDs come back on when there is no turn signal pulse for a preset period of time.* The only exception is during braking and turning where both versions function the same.

You are asking for a ninja zx-10r or a ninja 1000? I can do either for $125 plus $10 shipping to Canada or +$20 if you want tracking.

I think I get it now.....

Edit-I'll wait and get the new one if that's okay. I found this on their website. I'm assuming this is it.

Quote:
NEW! Turn Alert is a NEW approach to our integrated LED tail light operation. Typically, and integrated tail light will switch between yellow and red on the side you are indicating a turn. This only creates a color contrast. With Turn Alert, the tail light cycles between full intensity yellow, and OFF, on that side. Therefore, there is a full contrast turn signal operation on that side. The red running light will resume on that side once the turn signal is canceled. If braking and turning, the red will illuminate fully in between blink cycles - because braking should have priority.

I guess I should get new style since Im planning on removing my stock blinkers.

The new version may be better for people who are running only the integrated turn signal and NOT their stock turn signals.

Tri. Easy way would be let the first people who jumped in get second version unless they opt out. Everyone else gets the 1st version. That seems fair to me. (note Im in the middle so I only receive the 2nd version if one or two people ahead of me opt out.)

Anyways I think that is the best option.

I would suggest confirming with the first 6 if they do/don't want the new version, because I only found out about this via a notification I had to my email.

I actually wasn't planning on checking this group buy thread until maybe 2 weeks from now lol.
Had I not checked it, I would've defaulted to the new version, and knowing myself, I'd want the old version. I hope this makes sense.. haha because it makes sense in my head.

here is another Idea Tri. If people further on the list want to wait until they sell out of the old version let them.

but idk if theyll let you do that? so maybe thats a terrible idea... lol

I thought you were already in communications with CustomLED, especially being a dealer and all.
Why would they sell the ones you've already reserved.

That is fair... with my post I just shared my preference, if possible for you to accomodate... It would be logical if everyone who does respond with an opinion get a choice versus those who might not care either one...

The reason I would go for the gen2 is because I am going to remove the stock indicators and agree with others' opinion here that the indicators will be more visible in gen2 due to added contrast...

Besides, since gen1 stock is so low, shouldn't it be easier to have a gen2 instead... I mean the manufacturer/supplier should be able to give out gen2s more easily, right?

I am in constant communication with them. The thing is, up until the last weekend of the sale, I had less than 10 orders so it was a non-issue. So I wasn't expecting to order more.

Techincally I ended the sale on the 8th, but I did order 3 extra sets. If you want in, you can still get in, but you will be receiving the old style.

For those of you volunteering to receive old stock I will refund $5 of the purchase price. I don't really want this group buy to blow up.

Personally, I feel that the alternating from yellow to red creates higher visibility. The reason being, that you will notice 2 different colors flashing much easier than a single color. Think of it as the difference between a road hazard sign with a flashing yellow beacon vs a police car that uses 2 lights. I know the police lights strobe, but just consider the two color signal. I'm going to be installing the old style on my bike and I'll be keeping my turn signals too.

I've made a decision. I will go ahead and purchase another 3 units of the PI2 which will fulfill the gb. That will leave me with extra stock of the older version, but I'm sure they will sell eventually. I want everyone to be happy. For those of you who are asking to get in the group buy still, pm me your email and I will invoice you. Understand that you will receive the PI1. If that is a deal breaker, you can wait until I sell out of PI1 stock or purchase directly from CustomLED (at a higher cost).

Is the blink rate programmable (I heard in one video that it was "programmed to blink 6 times")? Meaning can I make it blink 4 times in the first 4 seconds and then go solid to comply with that law? In reality I would want it to blink 3 times in the first two seconds then a 1 second on, then a blink again (which qualifies under the wording).

Is the sale still happening?
No, this tail light will not illuminate the license plate. The brake mode is set to 3 flashes from the factory and is programmable.
