wishes often come true

as clean in as out...fully functional, set up, ready to bolt on. The owner must endure the extreme task of setting his idle, though.

Added a gut shot (make you envious of owner)

A "recheck" completed today on Holley carb model 1904 from a 1958 Ford F100 pickup truck
Found a shard of glass in fuel intake path, otherwise ready to go. Old reference material needed to confirm all components were accounted for and in proper placement.
Interesting old tech.... 1 main jet, accelerator pump, using various ball type check valves of various sizes, in multiple spots. Some use set/return springs, some "float" ...hence the need for an old 50's era manual.

EX500 carb refurb underway.

Beyond 2 clogged pilot jets, 1 carb pilot circuit was badly clogged, now cleared.

Some in process pics'll follow. I predict the owner will be pleasantly surprised, a dramatic transition underway, affecting both functional and visual levels.

ANOTHER snowstorm underway here...figured I'd complete these 250's I started yesterday. After full resto....look like they came outta the Keihin factory just a few days ago. I'll predict bolt on runners with a very long service life ahead. In addition petcock innards inspected and confirmed operational as well.

A few 250 observations. Of late I'm finding the mesh fuel strainers, which should be inserted into the black inlet rail, to be pushed out of place....crumpled and way up a few inches into fuel lines. These are no doubt causing fuel flow issues.

I've discovered the Kawasaki factory EX500 fuel rail filter to fit *much more snug* and not pulling out every time the fuel line is removed.

I stock them and will offer the install option within my services going forward.

But owners need to be aware, I'm finding this a common issue. FWIW...YMMV
***********************************************************

Another 'trending" discovery, long term parking on sidestand. Within many carb services I'm encountering contaminants (damaging liquid additives as well as varnish) greatly affecting the LH carb moreso than the RH.

I'd suggest long term storage using centerstand (if so equipped) or an appropriate block of wood under sidestand to somewhat (safely) level the bike somewhat. I repeat....FWIW...YMMV.

Good info, Gordon........something every "current EX250 owner" should pass along if/when the bike is sold to the next owner.......

not limited to 250....i'd apply it to any carbed bike under long term storage, if not draining bowls entirely in anticipation.

Some lean way over too, due to suspension mods or various other reasons.

Are these Joey’s? If so, I hear we’ll be seeing them soon and looking forward to it. I’d be interested in hearing what was troublesome with these. I put those in my ultrasonic cleaner when I bought the bike in 2018. The previous owner did some tinkering and it wasn’t running when I got it. I sold the bike to Joey in December 2019.

Today safely extracted this faulty pilot jet, replaced with brand new jet... thus saving the carb body.

Extracting stuck pilots from deep within always a heart pounding experience...though it came out in segments. Hey, whatever it takes.
Carb body threads verified undamaged, circuit confirmed clear and ready to roll again.

Note carbset received this morning, shipping back home this afternoon.
Same day service. Try that at your local HonZuKawi dealership.

Thankyou.........

I never posted "publically", but need to say "Thankyou Ducatiman", my rebuilt carbs by you looked absolutely BRAND NEW!!! I have rebuilt carbs (mainly cleaned), but NEVER to the level that he takes his rebuilds. All guts are new, nothing just "cleaned and put back in". It was well worth the $$$ to have it done professionally, and the idle/running of my carbs now prove it!!

Wanted to briefly echo Moto-Kafe's sentiment here - This is now the second time that ducatiman has provided a fantastic, professional service for me. Both times - carbs look straight out of the factory, run straight away, and keep running... Not to mention his skillful surgery on my stripped pilot jet
1 day service!
Bike is running great now, looking forward to nice riding weather. Can't say enough good things.

Update. I finally got off of my duff and put Nina the Ninja back together this weekend. Carbs went on and fired right up. No tuning required, although the next time I find a little time I will fine tune the idle circuit as Ducatiman instructed. She is a TOTALLY different bike now. Absolute hoot to ride.

leisurely doin' a refurb on a set of EX500 carbs today.

Unannounced, my neighbor brought his non-running pressure washer over, I found a clogged tiny main jet in the *plastic* carbed BRIGGS engine. Now a one pull start and runner.

Finished the 1st 500's, then onto a 2nd set in house.

Refurbed and corrected faults found within these new gen 250's today.

All brass came out awesome, wet tested perfect, all should be a "go".

Red Max EB7001 blower dropped off today. To be serviced, picked up tomorrow, at which time something else will be dropped off.

Back to normal with my landscape contact.
