Wink Nick's Street Fighter Build

@Klondike1020

Have a 'new' 08 ZX6R

Started stripping off parts, tomorrow going to really clean her, especially in those deep crevices Waiting on many parts, which includes a gasket and 6 o-rings for the valve cover problem on the 07/08. Also will be changing sprockets, chain, oil, etc. Will repaint some plastic that I probably have laying around from the last zx. Thinking white and green Need help figuring out a way to mount my gauges though

Bought her for a very good price that I won't disclose

Yes I managed to get my finger in all the pictures without noticing... it was raining - give me a break.

Can't wait to ride her, and my bike.

Crappy photos taken:

Plasti dip it pink!

Killer toy you got there. Invest in a stunt cage/ crash bars
They look nasty on a fighter and might help you out down the road. Also used cages are on cl a lot

Google how other people mounted their gauges and then improve on their design

Took off more parts today, could some recommend some carbon. fiber/aluminum polish? Also, I took my exhaust off, do I need to put any sort of sealant between the mid pipe and slip on? See pics.

Cool

Trying to figure out whether or not I'd want to keep the bottom fairing on, to cover the ugly cat. Still no idea for gauges. Waiting for headlight to come in and I'll see if any ideas come to mind .

Do they test emissions from bikes during inspections?

If not you could de-cat it, that would probably require a bit of tuning with a powercommander or similar

I don't think they test that here. That's on my to-do list. But I'd need a welder so it's pretty far down the said list

Might just get some headers down the road.
@TnNinjaGirl (thought you'd be interested in the build)

I really like that under tail YOSHI setup

What is your height and weight?

I watched a guy drive by on a GSXR fighter today and he looked like a circus bear !

dont remove the tail… it looks so ugly

without the fairings the 600 bikes lose their image or presence or something

- how is it coming … are you working on it or not

The only plastic on the bike will be the tank/seat trim and rear plastic. The bikes coming along well, I'm just waiting for parts. In the mean time I'm just cleaning her and stuff. Had to fix a piece of plastic with abs cement. It came out okay. Better than spending more money though haha

I think I'm going to buy a 2009-2012 zx6r header/exhaust.

Ideas to protect engine:

Race rails/street cage - will limit lean angle I presume. Can't have that. I've seen guys crash from that.

Frame Sliders - Can transfer energy to frame and damage bike or engine, or could flip it over multiple times.

Axle Spools, Bar ends - Most likely will not flip bike, but may not protect engine.

What do you guys thinks?

If your gunna ever see the track, do the race rails. A stunt or crash cage will not do unless specific to maintain a decent lean angle and the hard edges smoothed out.

Dude excuse me I don't mean to sound rude.

Build your bike however you want. Seriously stop asking for advice, just get it done.

You're not going to figure out what about it you have to change until you ride it.

Have you considered setting a deadline, a date of completion? Build that mofo however you please, consider your riding style, consider your power requirements, consider your traction needs, consider your average riding speed and comfort levels, consider your bar position, consider your budget, then make the choices and get it done.

The next bike you build will be more fun to build than this one. That is a fact.

If you don't have any advice to give don't post in this thread?

Nicks a young guy we should all be happy he's smart enough to ask for advice on something like this instead of just chopping his bike up into some ratty ghetto pos. I'm all for getting opinions and doing research beforehand, especially at my age where I'm young and poor and can't afford to fix mistakes constantly.

I'm certainly no expert, however the only thing protecting your engine and what not from a crash in stock configuration is plastic... so it's probably not too worse off in terms of impact, in terms of sliding it's gonna take the brunt of it now. Crash cages add weight, that's my least favorite thing about them though it's low down weight, weight is weight. Weight. Hampering lean angle is of course bad too unless you're on a cruiser that already doesn't have lean angle lol. Frame sliders always seem like an option for noobs afraid of dropping their bike in the driveway... always hear they can do more damage than good at speed. Some supermoto style axle sliders and/or swingarm sliders are meant for much more narrow bikes than a supersport, but would probably keep your forks, swingarm and rims from grinding on the ground. Those race rail things look kind of cool and seem like they'd best meet your criteria.

Personally, I'd be more worried about crash protection on my body than on my bike. If you go down on the streets the bike is probably going to get effed up pretty bad even with a cage. Your engine might be dandy but if the bike rolls down a hill or slams into a car your forks, wheels, swingarm, rear subframe, even the frame could all be snapped, twisted, bent or otherwise broken. Just my I ride a naked bike with a fat 900CC engine wedged into what is essentially a 600cc frame, and it's a backbone frame so nothing wraps around the engine to protect it at all.
