So, Dan... have you played with the mixture screws yet? Consider these methods to set them. I used the alternate method.

In the beginning the idle was lower than 1500. But towards the end of the video, it was idling right at 1500. Seems fine to me.

Must have just processed... Yea in the first part it was bad... I then closed the screws all the way and opened up around 2.5 give or take.

yeah, it looks close enough for now as far as the mixture screw settings. You need to get the bike out and ride it till it's completely warmed and come back and set the idle. If the revs still drop back down smoothly as it does in the second part of the vid, I think you are very close. The proof will be how the bike pulls away from a dead stop in comparison to how it did prior. I think you will be pleased.

glad to help. we all need to start somewhere. hopefully everything will turn out the first time, but don't be surprised if you'll need to go back and touch up the mixture screws or move the clip position around once you start fine tuning. This is only the beginning.
Don't forget to add yourself to the jetting database once you get things sorted. |

Will add them
Also another question... I have neglected to have my 500mile service done..... Is that something that is a must? The only think I worry about is the valve clearance. I can check most other stuff myself I think. I have been told by several people that they rarely see a 250 that needs adjusting at 500 miles... |

the new gen 250s' first valve check/adjustment is at 7,500 miles, not 500 like the pregens.
500 mile check is basically an oil/filter change and nut and bolt tightening. check your maintenance schedule in your owner's manual for details. |

Well I got to ride the bike today! I didnt take it out to much because it was cold but there is definitely a noticeable difference. The take off feel is wayyyy different. I even managed to scare myself when the front wheel popped off the ground a little bit. That and the bike sounds great. Worth every penny so far!
Haven't has it out on the "road" yet tho. I didnt get it up to highway speeds yet..... I will give more feedback when I know that is going good |
