We all know cagers can't drive...And I found out first hand smh

So I'm out earlier for my normal Sunday ride. Coming to an intersection (one turning lane, three lanes that keep going) and I realize I'm in the turning lane and proceed to get over into the lane next to me before I need to come to a stop. The civic in front of me decides that she also wants to exit the turning lane. Then for whatever reason she decides that she wants to get back into the turning lane...but by the time she gets back in traffic in that lane had stopped. The problem was that half of her car was still sticking out of the turning lane once she got "in". I try swerving as far as I could without getting into the other lane next to me (which also contained traffic) but too late. I clip her bumper and proceed to go over. Used all the strength I had to keep it from slamming into the ground.

Good news I was able to save my bike with only a few scratches to speak of, a busted turn signal, and a slightly bent clutch lever.

Bad news is I'll most likely be found at fault (I did not discuss any details though, only info exchange)

More good news I now have a reason to add some nice aftermarket levers and flush mount signals

Had my gear on so I'm fine.

Damage to her car was minimal. There's a dent the size of a quarter (if that big) in her bumper.

If he hit her back bumper than 99.9% of the time he'll be at fault.

yeah thats usually how it works but her being half way in the lane and half way out might work to his advantage...

Did she cross a solid white line?

Not that it's illegal, but you both might be at fault, not just you. Worth looking into. Crossing a solid white is typically reserved for emergencies, you're supposed to enter the turn lane at the dashed portion and not change back out.

I want to say there wasn't a solid white line but that's possible too

If she pulled in front of you and then slammed on her brakes (which is what it sounds like), then she's clearly at fault.

If she pulled into your lane and you had time to brake enough to create a comfortable stopping distance between you and her bumper, but you didn't, then you're at fault.

Akima: Judge, jury and executioner!

Glad you're ok

Lol definitely the first. She slammed on them when she realized she didn't have enough space to get behind the car in front of her.

Insurance is still evaluating the damage to her car (how long does it take to go look at a dent ) so I'll update whenever that decision comes.

Yea, unfortunately, I was at fault.

Insurance cut each of us a check for the damages (if you could even call them that smh). Got a new blinker but never replaced the clutch lever. Figured I'd keep it as a battle scar so to speak lol
