Let's get excited about my new bike!

I will preface this by saying that you guys are a great bunch of folks. I've been a member for years on this forum and I have been helped innumerable times by innumerable kind members of this fine board.

With that said, I'm buying a new bike. It's not very pretty, and it will probably torment the neighbors to no end, but something popped up for sale which simply cannot be ignored.

The flights to go see the machine are already booked, the shipping crate is empty and waiting, and everything seems like it will go smoothly.

I'm not gonna say what the bike is, or anything else about it because I don't want to jinx the deal before it is done -- but I am very excited about this machine.

The 250r will remain as my primary form of transportation and that will not change due to the reliability, fuel and tire economy, and comfort-factor of the 250 ninja. Yet, with multiple bikes in the stable -- I still yearn for something a little more raw and beastly.

Something wicked this way comes. The new beast should be mine within a week. I've been counting down the days for what seems like eons.

I guess this thread is kinda pointless if I don't share any details on the new bike, but I will post up pictures and full disclosure on the new machine once it's titled in my name and parked safely on my porch.

Very excited! Who's with me?

I just got a new bike as well!
Still Kawasaki, but not a 250/300; it's a white Vulcan S!
Although I'd probably still practice on my little Ninja when the winter is over before trying out the Vulcan, since it's been a few months since I've ridden and it'll be another few months before I can ride again!
WHY, SNOW, WHY?!

Based on this statement,

"It's not very pretty, and it will probably torment the neighbors to no end,"

it could be a Harley...

Or another V8, the Moto Guzzi V8, built from 1955 to 1957:

Jim.. it's not how fast it goes, it's how fast it gets to the rev limiter in each gear.

Uhhh.. chris? That's a trailer tire on the front rim. I don't even..

Okay here are pictures of the bikes listed in this thread. No one has guessed it yet.

Think... something a little more raw and untamed. From an earlier time. The machine was a high-water mark in terms of power to weight ratio. Something a little too fierce for most mere mortals to handle. Something that developed a bit of a cult following.

A la hunter thompson..

Now for pics of the bikes of the bikes mentioned so I can draw inspiration from their mechanical brilliance and artistic technological prowess.

Okay I'm probably over-hyping this and blowing things out of proportion. Maybe there isn't a reason to get excited but I've wanted it, I've found it, and hopefully soon it will be mine.

No body is allowed to say anything mean-spirited or negative that could somehow affect the cosmic flow which may be partially responsible for bringing this machine into my life.

I went through the pictures again and I couldn't find any I could post of the bike that wouldn't give it away the secret.

So. Now. We. Wait.

Based on the vague quote, I would venture a guess of original Water Buffalo H2 Kawasaki or Old School KZ 1000, 600, 400

just a wild guess and what comes to my mind when I think of power to weight, cult following and Older bikes

Yamaha RZ-350?

Most of the early 2-strokes would also qualify, including the H1, H2, and RD.

The bike appears to be in very good condition. It was taken care of, always garaged, but has a bunch of deferred maintenance to be done. It has a late 1998 build-date on the VIN sticker and 20,000 miles on the odometer, which means it's an 18 year-old motorcycle.

Brakes have never been refurbished and the original brake lines still on it, valve clearances have never been checked/adjusted, front forks have the original oil in them, spark plugs have never been changed, the thermostat is original to the bike, steering tube bearings have never been checked/lubed, and the list goes on...

I doubt it. The RZ500 is far less desirable than the Suzuki RG500. Basically, the RZ500 is worth far less as a collectable, and people who own them generally wanted an RG500 first but couldn't get one. Technically, the RG is the better machine, being much lighter with a better frame. (cast aluminum vs. square steel tube)

I used to own an RZ350 myself back in the late 80's and you would think I would lust after a RZ500, but no I would take an RG500 any day.

Agreed...5th gen is the shizzle...thats my 98 pictured, got it @20k, its got 40K now... its history remarkably similar to yours...a slacker PO....i've done valves, plugs, fork seals, steering stem bearings (tapered roller upgrade), caliper rebuilds F & R, chain/sprockets, POR 15 fuel tank, Mosfet R/R, LED voltmeter, upgraded charge system wiring, battery, tires...on and on it goes.

Refined, comfy, smooth, GREAT V4 powerplant ...does it ALL well, reliable, a looker, rare, THE sound (GD cams) ....Honda erred when reverting to cam chains and tensioners in the 6th (cheaper mfg costs) Once you get it fully serviced and updated to your satisfaction...a KEEPER. Unbastardized, clean original examples becoming somewhat rare. I'd NEVER sell.

OP sorry for threadjack

No worries. The day is approaching for me to board the plane and go overseas to inspect this beast. The seller picked up a shipping crate today and brokered a deal to get out of work early so he and I can get this b!tch crated up and delivered to the docks where it will ship from.

Maybe you guys are a little over-exuberant on this one. It's a nice bike and all, but it's really just a pile of parts that have been jimmy'd together to create something greater than their individual components.

I'm already considering installing an electric starter, upgrading the cable operated systems to hydraulic, and have lots of suspension components on my "watch list" on ebay. I'm gonna try to get as much use out of this thing as possible to justify the initial 'buy-in' price but I've gotta be careful not to spend too much and get myself in a jam.

I'm thinking that it will be a weekend machine, and the typical "commuting" will continue to occur on the ninja and another machine I have built and have yet to unleash. Parts for that "other bike" will be here soon which should get it rolling and into service.

Okay here's a hint. The words "rolling" and "supermoto" are very relevant. The "little" bike will be a learner bike, and the "big" bike which I made the thread about will be... well.. just like the little bike but way more... raw.

Merry christmas a few days late to ME!

Stay tuned.

btw does anyone have a racingfo.rme invite? I've been looking for one for quite some time now. If you don't know what that means, forget about it. If you do, PM me a link or the code and thanks in advance.

Just batshit crazy. All his posts are endless diatribes. Some are actually entertaining but mostly batshit crazy.

The "little" bike will be a learner bike, and the "big" bike which I made the thread about will be... well.. just like the little bike but way more... raw.

Reading this reminds me of the most hated part from all Japanese dramas series, when they have this "つづく" at the end of the show means "to be continued, see ya next week same time same channel b*tches".
