Bad Diode
One of my diode packs is bad (the ones on top of the battery box). OEM replacement is on order but for now I have bypassed the 3 pairs of wires and it works fine.
Is there any problem with riding this way for a week? I have read that the diodes are there to protect other components if you were to connect the battery or jumper cables in reverse (which I will not) but I don't want to fry some more expensive part in the system if this is not the case. Thanks

There for some of the safety lock out circuits. So they dont back feed on each other. The one set of diodes protects the CDI from 12 volts back feeding on it... you know the wire thats looking for a ground, so you get a spark. Why dont you jump it with some didoes from rad shack? |

Thanks for the info HK; I certainly don't want to kill the CDI.
I actually have a few in hand from our bin here at work. I will put them in tonight.

FYI, part number 1N4001 works fine. Unless it craps out in the next few days, I will just return the OEM module when it arrives next week.
