Charging Problem

I have been having some charging problems with my 2007 Kawasaki ninja 250. I recently bought the bike with a dead battery so soon after buying the bike I went out and purchased a pre charged battery. not even three days after, that battery didnt have enough power to start the bike (I just got that buzzing noise that happens when a bikes battery is dead). So I charged up the battery and tried again, but several days later the same thing happened. Finally I decided to do some research I concluded that my Regulator/rectifier was bad so I replaced it. At first I though this fixed it but the bike just died again. I have spent tons of time looking for an answer to thins problem but I can find anything so I really hope someone here has an answer for me. Thanks so much!

What test did you run to conclude that your rectifier was bad and not the battery? Check the wiki for more info on how to check your charging system.

first don't ever trust a motorcycle battery. The are sometimes junk from the start. But lets assume the battery is good. First you will need a multimeter that will read 12 volts. Hook it to the battery and see if the freshly charged battery reads 12. something or like 10. something. If you have a good 12 volts start the bike . Watch the volt meter. If it drops to like 8 volts before the bike starts then the battery is not to good. Once the bike starts look at the meter. It should read about 13.5 or something more than when the bike was not running.

IF all that is OK then shut the bike off. Remove the negative battery cable..Set the meter up to read AMP or amperage. usually you have to change the wires on the meter. Put the red lead to the cable and the black lead to the negative post of the battery. With the bike off and key out there should be less than .20 amp draw really should be nothing. But it might have a little.
good luck and welcome to the forum.

Do you think that since the volts are not jumping it is a sign of a bad battery?

If the battery fails to hold a charge, and voltage drops below 12.2 volts, get a new battery. A battery should not go dead after several days, after being put on a proper charger.

--deleted-- missed the part where he said it goes up with engine speed.

sounds more like a short now. do the static draw test racer x was talking about. run the ammeter in series with the electrical system when its off. you will probably see current flowing when its off.
