Girls on Bikes

I noticed from looking at the pics of the girls on this site how gorgeous lady Ninjette riders are.
This thread is not meant to stereotype girls that ride sport bikes VS cruisers so just tell me what differences if any you have noticed between girls that ride sport bikes and those that ride cruisers.

The one thing I have noticed is that more girls ride on the back of cruisers and more girls ride their own sport bikes instead of being on back.

Not around here. I'd say it's easily a 5:1 ratio of women driving cruisers to women driving sport bikes. Not that there's many of either around here really.

We do have some very lovely looking women on this site. I've teased my wife about ditching her for a "biker chick" before, didn't go over too well though.

I don't think she's very worried. However, when you start obsessing over this thread... then she'll start to worry!

For me, I wanted a Ninja 250 because it felt small enough for me that I could be confident and not look like I was really trying to prove something. I like being a girl! You can still be a cool biker chick and ladylike at the same time if you know what you're doing. There's no need for me to try to be uber-competitive with other bikers out there.

I feel like these chicks on BIG BIKES are trying to prove something - kind of like the old saying about guys and big trucks... I think most of the ladies on this site have kept in mind that they are ladies and that is the most attractive thing in a girl to me!

I don't really think women on big bikes are trying to prove anything, unless they are riding a bigger bike than they can comfortably handle. To each her/his own, ride what makes you happy and keeps you safe.

For me (granted I am an extremely new rider) I can't imagine wanting more power or to go faster than a ninja can, but I tend to be a pretty cautious driver. I won't rule out changing my mind, but for now the ninja suits me just fine. I did think at one time that I wanted a cruiser, but that was before sitting and riding on the ninja.

I find that anyone can ride anything. It's just a perference on what you like.

Harleys (or cruisers)are like Cadillacs (big and comfy).

250 Ninjas are like Miatas (light and good handling).

600s are like Porsches (light and agile)

Litre Bikes are like Corvettes (fast and muscular).

Man i'm just not hanging around the right crowds.

I never ever see a girl driving her own sports bike around here (north Ga). I see a lot of cruisers with women drivers and they're about the most unpleasant thing to my eyes that i could imagine. They're typically older (which is ok) but rough/haggard looking women. I still admire them for riding but the ones i've talked to just weren't my type of people.

I've seen very few girl sportbike riders. One stands out though. My wife and i were at a bike night last summer. We're sitting on the patio and this girl pulls up on this big pretty R6 along with her (i assume) boyfriend on his bike and a few others. She's gets off and is strutting around b/c she knew people were looking at her (i'll admit she was very physically attractive). They didn't stay very long. So as they're leaving my wife and i just happened to be discussing her and how unusual it is to see a girl rider and suddenly *VROOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM* this chicks bike flies out from under her and everyone runs over. I have never seen another human being feel so embarassed.

That being said, my wife rides with me and i try to keep it that way. I'm not sexist but she's about as girly as a girl can get. She can't ride a bicycle, muchless a 300 lbs. bike. She loves riding though and worked at a bike dealership for a while until it closed down.

Here in SoCal, gender doesn't determine the type of bike used, usually the roads decide that.

I've noticed girls solo on sportbikes more often though.

My wife likes the way some cruisers look, she likes sportbikes looks OK; she prefers the 60s-70s style naked bikes. I guess that's why she fell in love with the TU the first time I showed it to her and told her what she should get.

Ditto for my part of the Bay Area, regarding the road determining the type of bike used.

I see about an even number of sportsbikes, standards, and cruisers being piloted by women. It's not very unusual at all in the bay area, which rocks.

While they may not look like the most masculine car in the world, they're pretty popular with the autocross crowd because they are so agile. I had a friend that used to have one and thing could turn on a dime. They're also easy to make faster because they're so light.

That being said, we still harassed him for driving a girly car.

I've ridden both cruiser and sport bike. The cruiser was for a review I wrote. I did notice that when I rode the GZ250 a lot more cruiser people waved at me haha.

You've obviously never driven a Miata. Impossible to drive without smiling. My boyfriend constantly teased a guy at work who drives one, until he drove mine.

And that is one of the factors that convinced me that the ninjette was the bike for me. Handling, power:weight, efficient but fun, dependable and well engineered - exactly what I want in my toys.

Plus I could touch the ground on both feet, so that helped too.

If you drive a Miata that isn't supercharged or otherwise modded out for performance, you are gay. Sorry, no matter how well it handles it is still a chick car. At least when it has mods people are like "well, now I guess this person really likes a performance car on a budget" instead of, "man, that's gay."

Miata is built on the concept of British roadster, which is not gay at all. Those cars are totally cool, and they had 60hp.

Every car has its limits. Driving it at the limits is a talent and skill. Placing the limits higher, and driving below them is gay.

Geez, i didn't mean to make this a "defend thr Miata" thread. Get your panties out a wad folks. I was just cutting up. I have driven one and they're obviously fun to drive. They obviously have a lot capability to be made into very fast cars. And not that there is anything wrong with it but there is a very large number of guys with dingalings that like other guys with dingalings that drive them. its just a fact. And before you bash me, the miata i have driven is owned by a gay fella who's very good friends with my mom and i actually think he's a cool dude. I still bust his balls about being gay and driving a miata though.

Hey Mo. I see your point...to a point. However, the blanket statement of "these chicks on BIG BIKES are trying to prove something..." is inaccurate in many cases. I had a Ninja 650 for a while and loved taking it on rides! It's interesting to compare our 250s with the 650 when you've ridden both. They are TOTALLY different machines in many ways, and BOTH helped make me a better rider. My choice of which to ride depended on the type of ride I was going on, my mood that day, etc. I never wanted to lose my "lady" title just by mounting a bigger bike. I was never out to prove anything, just to enjoy a different kind of riding. I miss that bike quite often.
Anyway, I'm so glad there's another chick on board. It's great to read your posts! Ride safe!
