Bicycles made by car companies...

I'm not a huge bike guy but the Range Rover looks pretty sweet.

The Mercedes mtb looks pretty good, but then again it looks a lot like my Gary Fisher HiFi.

Mercedes:

My HiFi:

Also, mine was A LOT cheaper than $8,000.

If I ever become a competitive cyclist, this is my dream bike.

Specialized McLaren Venge

The frame weighs less than one kilo. Before I got my 250r, I had to ride a heavy ass mountain bike to campus.

Yeah but the mercedes bike has the maestro link in the suspension like the Trek Remedy and the Giant Reign.

$8,000 hurts. for that price it had better have the floating swingarm like the Remedy

For 8K they better use quality components. Then again, they may skip on some of the really high quality parts and charge more just because of the name printed on it.

See Harley Davidson.

Also, only about 3% of all cyclists could even come close to riding that bike to its full potential. My HiFi, yeah it isn't the best design, and it doesn't use the highest quality components, but it is an insanely great bike that I can ride the crap out of for a long time. I think several cyclists buy more bike than they could ever use. I see it on the bicycle forums all the time (and in real life). They are obsessed with saving a few grams here, a few there, yet they have at least 20lbs they could lose around the waist. But the bike is the problem...yeah right.

I don't have that problem. I know I'm not the best cyclist out there. Plus I love flying past people on a bike that costs less than half of what theirs did.
My hardtail mountain bike: One of the cheapest 29er's you can buy
My FS mountain bike: One of the cheapest 29er's you can buy
My road bike: one of the cheapest you can buy that always pulls great reviews
My fixie: Cheapest one Specialized makes (and I love the way it looks)

Case in point: doing a ride last January, I come up on this guy riding a high end Specialized Roubaix. I drooled over that bike for a long time, just couldn't justify spending the cash on one. We talked for a while, then I just applied a bit more power, he tried to keep up but I just left him in the dust. His bike weighed in a lot less than mine too (carbon vs aluminum). People think it is all about the bike (motorcycles too), but it is about the rider more than the bike.
