I NEED HELP! (no, not the psychological kind)
Ok, so I haven't been on the forums much since a lot of my time is taken up by school. It has been so long that I didn't notice the 2011 Pearl White 250Rs.
That is where the headaches, night sweats, and sleeplessness started. You see, when I get back home I was going to feel around the local paint shops and see how much it would cost to get my fairings painted. I decided on white because only a few members have done white, it's not seen too often on many other bikes, and it looks good on 250Rs. Then the Pearl White reared it's head and squashed that idea. I really like the color, but if I am going to pay to get a paint job I want something unique. So I would like your opinions. My top choices atm are burnt orange and gunmetal gray. I am open to other suggestions as well. A little background; like the orange decals on my ninjette right now, the burnt orange is a sort of dedication. My wifey has MS and the awareness color is orange. When asked which of the 2 she preferred, she said,"Which ever one makes you happy." So she was no help. And my favorite color is gray, hence the gunmetal gray. But, like I said, I am open to suggestions and opinions. Thanks!

Ask Vince to photoshop the bike in both so you can see what they would look like before finally deciding. I'd choose a bright orange.

I was going to post in his thread about it until I stumbled across a thread on 250r.net.
They are both just a little lighter than I would want, but the basic idea is there. Either way, I think I will polish the lip of the rims no matter which I choose.

Why not use both colors? I'm sure it can be done well. It is just a matter of figuring out how exactly to lay it out.

Strategic use of both colors could be really fantastic if you're looking for something unique. Although, I recall one of the members here painted their bike a gunmetal grey of sorts, and it looked pretty damn beautiful. And it's not too common on any make of bike either. Ummm- one moment.... Here it is if you want a better idea of what that might look like:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...ight=paint+bmw Something like that with some orange decals, or wheels, or a wind screen, or something of the sort could be pretty slick |

If you are torn between the colors, tie goes to the one that is most visible. Yellow-green is an easy color for the human eye to discern in both day/night lighting conditions, as well as providing contrast with typical backgrounds. (Solomon & King, 1997) Another study found fluorescent orange as the best choice for vehicle visibility/conspicuity under most environmental conditions. (Langham and Rillie, 2002). All agree that black and grey suck.
So go with the orange for safety reasons. But it also seems like a really cool thing to do for your wife. The fact that she's nice enough to say "go with what you love" tells me that she really deserves the tribute orange. Not only does it reflect her MS, it is more likely to keep you alive.

I like orange:
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...=painted+night I've found the new color made no noticeable difference in my visibility (or lack thereof) to drivers. |

Do a camo configuration using both of those colours. That oughta get you noticed.

@Tiffani- Thank you for the link, it has actually helped me sway more towards a shade of orange than gray. The one in the pics is beautiful, but I think I would lose interest in it after a while due to the way it blends into the bike itself and doesn't stand out as much as I thought it would.
@Floyd- Obviously agree with you on that. @Frugal- I just might have to steal your idea there, that is a damn good looking bike you got there. @John- Haha, the "atm" meant "at the moment". But KTM orange does look really nice.

Go with dark metallic gunmetal overall. Then, get decals to do stripes and patterns in reflective orange. Add orange wheels with "stealth" reflective orange rimstripes. Both colors get used, it would be very unique, AND with reflective designs, be highly visible at night. win-win-win.

I love that candy burnt orange color. If I could afford a 2011 650R I would have gotten that color A combination could work though...

I was thinking of a combination too, but haven't found a pattern that I like.

Those are two very tough choices! But if I was going to have a custom paint job done on my Ninjette, I would go with the Burnt Orange because it matches my car.
