K&N 0990 owners

hey whats up ok im in the middle of my install but dont know if i should use the runners or just clamp the 0990 right next to the carbs and if you just shove the runners into the 0990 wont that worp them? would it be better if i just dont use the runners at all? well txs

I clamp the filter straight to the carbs.
It has no problem fitting right on easy.
The runner is another piece I didn't need just like the airbox.

No runners.

I made four small v-shaped cut-outs on the K&N filter so it could "taper down" as I tightened the clamps up.

In the picture you can see the four little cut-outs on each intake side. You make them small so their edges close together when you clamp them tight on the carb intakes.

I used the runners and it works great. You have to bend them a bit to get them in the filter but they spring back to shape once they are inside. Snug the clamps and your good to go.

i didn't use any runners and didn't have to make any cuts to get the filter on. but my filter does hit part of the bike frame up top. little bit of a dent, but no biggie.
