I'm pretty sure it was a town in New Mexico where I saw some signs prohibiting motorcycles entirely in one community. I was almost out of gas and had to ride miles off the Interstate to get to the closest one. I think there was a Wal-Mart distribution center nearby and there were also signs saying that engine braking was illegal due to noise and all the 18-wheelers coming to and from the DC doing it.

Also, it's illegal everywhere federally even though feds only enforce it during import. The point is that restrictions are progressively local and no particular state is a free-for-all.

Nice bike!

Hmm the only DC I know of in NM is right in my home town unless they built another one up north, the laws here are kinda funny the law for pipes says NO Restrictions. I don't get the fed thing, it's like why allow aftermarket stuff if its illegal. Just like the "DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW" tag on your Bed lol lol

I got the wheel tape from Cycle Gear.

I've seen retirement communities with a guard and gated access with "no motorcycle" signs, though it's not like it's the "law" unless you consider owners the ultimate lawmakers... it is supposed to be bottom up in the USA with you having absolute authority of your property and other authorities can only dictate what affects things you don't have absolute say-so regarding (your land can't affect your neighbor adversely if the city says so, for example). Personal, City, County, State, and THEN Federal laws. Though the Feds intrude on our daily lives routinely these days, Federal laws typically cover international concerns, which is why they only care about them entering the country with modified exhausts and they don't enforce what you do to it afterward.
