can i roll start a bike if lights are off

So i was just trying to start my bike, everything were normal but when i press on the starter button, i heard a hiss sound and all my lights (indicators/head) just went off.
Is it a lossen connection? Is it possible to roll start it? I really don't want to have to spend an hour taking the bus going back and forth.

Put it in 2nd or even third and give it a try. It's even better to have someone push you.

Sounds like a dead battery. I usually put it in third and pull the clutch. You can push the 250 like a scooter. When you get up to a brisk walking pace, dump the clutch. Just make sure the bike is on and the kill switch is right. When it starts, it will lurch badly so be ready to pull the clutch again and rev the bike.

Oh i have done this rolling things before. Many times.
Was just worried cause not sure if even the lights won't come on would it start.
Huh.
How often do you guys take your battery out and charge it? I just had mine charge at a dealership about 2 month ago or so when doing normal maintenance.

I only charge it over winter. I had a Z1000 that had a completely dead battery. It was fuel injected, so i had to roll down a hill fairly quickly and dump the clutch in 6th to get it going. Otherwise it wouldn't have any fuel pressure. All you need on the 250 is enough juice for one spark and you are good. Assuming you don't have fuel injected spec 250 in Hawaii, it should be cake

Thanks! How fast were you going in a 1000 sixth..?
oh and, if it were a connection thing instead of battery, is it still possible to roll start it?

I manage to get it started twice, but both time the engine just sputtle and sounds like it's about to die. Then it actually does on me. If I pull it into a bigger incline (there is one right next to me lot) will the speed help it last longer? Because I don't have to tool at home and there is no way it will last till I get to the shop which is like 8miles away.

The bike did come with a took kit. Make sure the headlight is on low beam so there is less draw on the battery. All you need to reconnect the battery is a JIS screwdriver but a philips will work too. Try second gear or third. All you are trying to do is get it in a tall enough gear so it wont lock up the rear tire. So if 2nd doesnt lock up use it it will give you more RPM on startup. Full choke second gear or third pop clutch pull in clutch once running keep the revs around 3k if you can to charge the battery in neutral.

You may have a bigger problem then. Are your fuses ok? If a battery shorts inside itself, it can cause similar symptoms. If there is a way to load test it, that would eliminate a big variable.
Two things that have bitten me more than once. Is the kill switch on and does the bike really have gas. I always over think and miss the obvious.

did the dash lights come on when push started?

is the bike cold when you push started it? have you tried it with the choke on?

when it did start, and died after, was the low beam on?

not sure about brake lights but my dash were all dark so I would assume it ain't.
Not cold. Was at campus just got there two hours ago to study.

huzz.. not sure how to describe it. Tach won't working but it sounds like it was idling at less than 1k. Sounds like it was suffocating.
When I was driving at sixth gear full throttle on my way out it was just doing 16mph or so. In first gear full throttle it max out at 4mph. I drove like a retard during rush hour traffic.

I just got my 250 as a track bike recently. I didn't realize it wouldn't go to second. Is there a way to bypass that if need be. I suppose the motor is small enough that a first gear bump would do the job

I just use first. Its easy just remeber to pop clutch when you are IN first gear.
It took me half an hour my first time to realise poping it in neutral doesn't do ****.

Ok my ninja bros. My battery is very fine. So is fuse. Drop it off at the dealership and they are gonna take it apart.
Hope it doesn't take them too long its $89 per hour
Oh and its a suzuki dealership (don't want to get a tow truck, Kawa is another 7 miles or so) so i hope they know much too.
Can't be too bad tho have seen at least 3 250's there.
