2010 triple clamp question

I just picked up a new ninjette on Friday, and need a mount for my iPhone (for GPS, don't care about music) and I would like something that will sit under the windscreen. I found this, but it looks like there's a big nut over the center of the triple clamp, can anyone tell me if it's just a cover over a hollow stem, or if it's actually holding something on?

here's the mount: http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-moto...inch-ball.html

looks like the bottom part sticks in the stem, and as you tighten the screw on it, the bottom rubber expands to hold in place.

This prolly belongs in tech, but I wanted the exposure here for a quick reply, since I'd like to order something asap

Thanks guys

EDIT: Looks like I found another solution, a ninjette owner from Toronto made a comment on this part saying it's perfect for attaching on one of the upper windscreen bolts:

i'll do up a DIY with all the part numbers when I get it in and on the bike

Good question. I'd love to know the answer too. I wish I had the bike here with me now to check.

looks like it's a no-go from that pic. I"d seen that from the service manual, but wasn't sure I was looking at it correctly. anyway, I ended up getting a different setup, one that will bolt to the lower left or right windshield bolt.

I"ll put up some pics and part numbers when it's attached, should be later today when I am done work

lol kamikaze, I'm the one who posted the review on gpscity. I used that angular mount with an arm, the barbell, another arm, then the nuvi 550 cradle and nuvi.

Awesome setup. I ended up making 3 orders from gpscity before finally just giving up and going with the erector setup. Everything else just fails. We can meet up some time and I can show you the erector setup. It's awesome.
