Do you have any naked pictures of your...

OK, OK....you know what i mean.
The opening page had an incredible pic of a naked nin' the other day. I was really surprised by this becuase it had a tank that was totally 1960's and paint to match. It reminded me of a bultaco ( for those of you old enough).
I'd like to see more of what the group has done...just plain naked or naked with some farkly stuff. If you've added a tank or bikini fairing...let us know where you got them as well as anyhting else. Extra points given to guys who've been real resourceful and done the job for very little money.

Damn! That is one sweet Ninja Streetfighter!

What have you done to it exactly? Just took the fairings off?

Say I were to buy a pre-gen 250. How easy would it be to do this look?

Eh.. The headlight isn't ugly, but it would look better with maybe a round headlight.
Still pretty sweet!

It's making me want to buy myself a pre-gen and make it a streetfighter.

This is my Naked Ninja. top speed I have seen without fairing is 114 mph so far.
I am thinking about putting it back on the road with a round headlight

hellz yeah, Scum-nektady, as we like to call it. LOL. my girlfriend has family all over the place down there. i ride down there whenever i can. durham, cairo, and on the eastern side of the hudson that way too. i know 30, but mainly up in the area of amsterdam, down thru schoharie, but not much further south. i'll have to googlemap those others and see wehreabouts they are.

as far as the pics i mentioned earlier, here goes. the clip-ons that i just put on are by far the most expensive purchase for my bike so far. next would be the gallon of rotella. LOL. now that i've told, time to show

Whoa...looks like one of those locomotives you guys used to build up there. Yeah...30 south of 28 around the reservoirs all the way down to 17 is maybe the best road i ever was on. WE usually come up to 28 and then take something south that get us back to Long island by night. 28 to Phonecia or Arkville or something and then home. Sometimes stumble up to 88. We have nothing to rider here on LI so we travel 125,130 miles up to the hills.

Essentially, yeah if you want to start simple. Just gotta figure out how to mount the essentials like signals, mirrors and lights. It gets a little more challenging when you start swapping things out like gauges and headlight. And if you gut the airbox for pod filters, you have to come up with a battery mount and something for all the electronics. Start simple. Take small bites.

I tend to take things a little further than necessary. Once it's mostly done and I have time, I'll make a thread showing the progress. It's all the stuff you can't see that makes it fun. Like the custom battery box and coolant overlow and electronics tray.

Totally agree with ya, C. I started with the main fairings, and made a replacement radiator cover. then decided to pull off all the plastics completely. painted some things. went with clipons. my next purchase will prolly be a new headlight. and signals. want to refoam my seat completely soon. next major project will be to remove the airbox and remount all the stuff. I'd like to come up with something besides pod filters. was thinking maybe mounting up a u-shaped pipe setup, and making something like a ram air intake. different look. but alot of the fun is brainstorming how to go about accomplishing what you envision. just about everything I've done to the bike was bought at Lowe's. the only thing i paid "real" money for was the clipons, and i got those on ebay for a hundred less than most retail sites sell for. i just like doing it cheap cuz it forces me to get creative. i made a speedometer housing (that's not in those pics) out of a can of baked beans. i would have used a campbell's soup can but the beans were cheaper...

This is exactly the reason I bought a pregen 250 to fix up, but I found one at a good price and the fairings are good so its gonna stay stock. I'm still looking for a beater though.

Its all in what you want to ride. If you like the fairings on, then keep them on. Personally, I like the raw look of a naked bike. If I bought a new gen, the first thing I'd do is take off the plastics. But that's me. On this one, the hard part was already done by the POs (chopped exhaust and dropped) so it just screamed 'fighter to me. Once I start on my winter projects, I'd like to take off or cut the front fender when I replace the tires. Since there isn't a whole lot of variation in production, it gives you a chance to personalize the bike and you can be proud that your ride is unique and you did the work yourself.

Cheapcycleparts.com is one that I know off the top of my head. I think ninja250.org has the exploded diagrams on their site as well, but I don't know that they have new gen, cuz I never looked for that.

Sweet looking bike, btw. Maybe I'll wait a couple years and pick up a dropped new gen and fighter it. They look sick naked.

Thanks, i'll check it out.

it does look pretty sick! too bad finishing it out to be a streetfighter would cost almost as much as fixing it up.

This is a 2001 Ninja 250 . It was built for Bonneville. But I am going to use it for drag racing . Naked all the way.
