Did Suzuki discontinue a ton of models?

I was just looking at new models... don't worry, not plans (or $$) to defect. I noticed they only had 5 bikes listed for the 2011 year Sport-bikes (GSXR600 being the babiest). The latest SV650 listed was a 2009.... they couldn't have discontinued the SV650, or did they?

After looking at the site, it looks like they have it set up to show which models are actually "new" new for each year. It's not that they have discontinued them, they just haven't updated those models. When you go through the years on the site it shows you the bikes that have been updated for that year in some way. If you just select "show all", and "newest" it shows you the most recent update for each bike they currently make.

Actually there was just a little thing in Cycle World saying that they just aren't importing a bunch to the states this year

They might have discontinued it (They dropped the SV1000S last year or so ), but they might have just not gotten around to putting up all the 2011's yet (more likely). Suzuki chose not to bring ANY 2010 bikes stateside this year, which is why the most recent model SV is an '09.

They still make the sv 650 and sv650s but haven't imported any in a couple years. They tried to replace the naked with the glades and it bombed. I heard a rumor they might bring in the gsr600. And it comes in a 750.

I know times are hard, but I just don't understand how they would try to remain competitive in the US by not bringing anything in for 2010.

Just to clarify.... does that mean there are no VIN#s for 2010, or the 2010 looks like the 2009?

the 2010 models did look just like the 2009 (for gsx-r 600 and 750) which is why they didnt import any, they needed to get rid of the 2009 stock that didnt sell because of the economy. if you cant sell your main profit gainer supersport then you cant really hope to try and sell much else.

Got it. I guess, being in a niche that doesn't go after the profit gainer, it didn't make sense because what I valued was different.... but in a macro perspective, considering the entire market, this makes more sense.

I have heard there are now some new models of cars that are like 10% less than the year before!
