New Bike.. New paint job

I picked up my 07 a few days ago and man oh man was there a terrible paint scheme on it. Someone had painted over the original graphics and I couldn't bring myself to deal with it any longer. Here's a few pics.

What they did was tape off the black area and paint over the decals. Real SOB to get off too. it's an 07 with 15k on it so she (oh I hope it was a girl) must have ridden it often. I don't know the previous owner as I purchased it at a car lot.

I've been thinking about pulling the stock flames off my bike. I think they make the bike look older than it is. It kind of dates the design.

I picked up a dual temperature heat gun at ace hardware for $20. a few hrs of tedious work and the flames were gone. if ya do it apex, be sure not to melt the plastic body parts... they are pretty thin.

Mark, I took all the decals off my bike with a hair dryer--less chance of melting the plastic. What worked best for me was to heat up a corner of the decal and get the corner unglued. I would then grip the decal with a hemostat--needle nose pliers will work too. You gently apply pressure peeling back, while applying heat to the underside of the decal. It should peel back easily.

Yep that was quite an interesting paint job you had on there. Looks better now. I didn't know they had flames on those bikes, it makes them look like they are from the muscle car era/70s.
