Opinions on turn signal mounting

I bought my 250 used with a fender eliminator kit already installed. I didn't like how the PO had the turn signals mounted so I made up different brackets for them. However, I can mount them two ways. This is where i need your opinions.

The first way:

I think I like the second way because it tucks them in tighter under the tail. My only concern with it is that they will be too close together and may be a safety issue. Thoughts?

(PS - those pictures are just a mock up. The brackets will be painted and i know everything is all crooked )

The difference is so small I can't tell much difference either way. Rock what you like that is legal.
