2 hoses and chain

Hi guys I just bought my 09 ninja 250 about 4 days ago and I've been riding it twice and it runs fine but then yesterday when I did my oil change I noticed that there are 2 hoses just hanging like shown in the picture. No leak nor fluid coming from the hoses. Does anyone know what these hoses are for? does it dangerous to let them hanging like that? if you guys want more picture I will take more.

I also noticed that the chain is really close to the bar as though its touching it? It gets closer as it go to the front sprocket?Does this dangerous? I'm not sure if you guys know what I'm talking about but please look at the picture

The hoses are overflows for coolant and fuel. Chain slack is adjusted in the middle of the chain length. The chain will touch the chain guide from time to time as eh suspension travels.

Don't sweat the hoses, they are supposed to just hang there.

You will want to service your chain, check out these links:

How do I measure chain slack?

How often should I lube the chain; what should I use to do so?

Have you read over the ninja 250 wiki? If not, click here

And welcome!

If it's an '09 be a bit careful with the ninja 250 wiki -- it's got a pretty strong and silent pregen bias that caused me some issues more than once.

it will rub there as the wheel moves down. that is why there is a slider there. no worries, unless your slider is extremely worn. look for grooves.

try and find videos of a bike on a dyno or something that shows the chain. The centrifical force pushes the chain out on the top and bottom. wont really show what chain looks like when you hit a bump, but will give you and idea of its characteristics when at speed

Honestly it's been so long I'd have to go back through my notebook from Hotaru. I just remember it becoming a trigger when I saw that site to double check everything vs the new gen.
