Well I was working on the carbs and went out for a test ride when I was done. The bike still wasn't right, but it had been so long since I went out for a ride that I kept riding. Well I was going to fast through a turn in my neighborhood and wiped out. All in all, I'm fine, just a little rashed and bruised. But the bike seems screwed. The portion where the rearset bolts onto the bike itself seems bent. And I have no idea what the hell to do. Any advice would be great! Or donations for the incredible repair bill would be awesome… lol

Sux to hear that...glad you're ok though. I've heard that the frame is the weakpoint in these bikes and will get damaged before the rearsets. Would think there's a way to bend it back. Maybe take it to a metal shop see what they say.

Sorry to hear about your down, good that you didn't get really hurt or anything. I really don't have any advice about your bent frame part, but I can say mine bent there too yesterday.

Most people don't realize it, but those mounts bend in practically every drop. This became obvious in one of the threads about an aftermarket exhaust not fitting right.

I'd put some bolts in there and put some force on the bolts until you get them back where you want them. Tweaking the mounts isn't the same as tweaking the frame.

Well I tried putting a bolt in there and using some vice grips to bend the mounts back. They seemed to bend a little but now the bolts are just bending. Any advice? Maybe use heat?

Don't use heat. Remove the swingarm and use an adjustable wrench clamped on to straighten, then wirebrush off loose paint and rust. Spray and clean with brake cleaner, then paint.

Damn, I went down on the same side. Lowside around 20 mph. Damaged a lot of stuff.
Anyhow, did the gear shifter mechanism also break off I'd just the metal corner piece?

I would contact a dealer get an estimate or evaluation. Then decide wether to pay them to work on it. Or find parts online and diy. Second option is better but the first option is to get professional opinnion on what's wrong. The evaluation/ pricing w/ parts list needed is Free!

When I bent an upper fairing stay, I put the bolt back in and adjusted the wrench to fit over it (head to tip) and then straightened the stay. Easy-peasey.

Two things:

1. The whole area isn't bent. It's more of just the threads/mounts/whatever. Would it be safe to get some heavy duty bolts and just go at it?

2. Noob question alert: If i were to remove the swingarm, how would I keep the bike upright?

If you have pegs that are aftermarket (non folding) you can use jack stands and palce them on top. Im sure you already thought of this though.

I did, but with one of the rearsets removed, I don't see that working

Because I had added a full exhaust over the winter to replace my SO. I eventually was able to get the mount bent back, so I rode to the dealer to let them have a go with the carbs, because I simply give up lol...

Well at least your alright. I ordered my new exhaust yesterday it's made by a company in Britain called Pipeworx and it looks absolutely beautiful. It's just a slip-on although I was wanting a full system but nearly everything I could find was American and so didn't have anywhere to stick my Ninja's Fuel Injection oxygen sensor. Apparently your supposed to use bungs but it's seems a bit much just to make my bike LOUDER!

My son has crashed twice. both times about 80mph low sides. bent the frame the same way both times. once I used the 12: adjustable wrench...other time I used a grade 8 bolt, put a pipe over it and bent it back. The threaded inserts are only held in the frame with 4 tack welds.

Thats interesting and slightly alarming at the same time. No wonder its such a cheap bike lol

It's better that way. This way when the bike falls on the rearsets, it bends/shears the spot welds instead of tweaking the frame!
