58 for 58

Just thought I'd help spread this a bit since I didn't see a post about it on this forum yet, for anyone else who might want to participate. As ‎Simoncelli's father, Paolo, said when talking about the moment of silence to be held in Valencia, he would like a minute of 'noise and chaos' - from the 125, Moto2 and MotoGP bikes revving together - in Marco's honour, as that's far more suited to who he was. From that spawned a bit of world wide thing:

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/...?article=46550

The idea is simply a moment of, well, noise and chaos for 58 seconds at 10:30am this Sunday in your respective timezone as a wave goodbye. I thought this was pretty cool in a bittersweet way. Might seem silly, but I'll be revving both of my street bikes

I can't read anything about Simoncelli without getting a lump in my throat.

I think it's a cool idea. Maybe I'll make a video of it.

Sounds like a great idea to pay my respects while simultaneously annoy all my hungover neighbors.

Likewise I honestly couldn't read or watch a large majority of the tributes to him, just because it makes it that much more real. However bad it may sound, this is the first and only celebrity death that has ever really sincerely gotten to me.

But this kind of stuff- like this moment of chaos and Misano being renamed in his legacy- just pays testament to how many people were moved and inspired by his passion on the track and his charisma off of it. I think this is a beautifully conceived farewell

I love this idea. I love that Misano is being renamed for him. And I love how they will be retiring number 58. I will mentally rev my bike as a tribute since I don't have my bike with me. I wish I could actually take part in this for real though.

I'll probably be out riding about that time, but I'll try to remember to give it an extra rev in his honor.

EDIT: US residents don't forget the switch off of DST.
