STFA but could not find. Cant shift into 2nd or higher.

Some of you may remember that i recently picked up an early gen 250 for my girlfriend. Well, anyway she LOVES it. Not riding yet (besides her yard), but is totally hooked. I rode this bike for 50 miles or so...with generally nothing to report.

Ive sorted a few issues, and still sorting some more...but yesterday i came out to the bike and there was a new one. It wont shift up to 2nd! It sits in neutral fine...and the light works. I can shift down into first...clutch out and GO, but when i shift up to 2nd it just stops at neutral.

Things ive tried:
1. Engine running, Shifting normally with foot, clutch in.
2. Engine running, Shifting normally with hand, clutch in.
3. Engine running, Shifting normally with foot, clutch out, brake on, helmet on.
4. Engine not running, Shifting normally with foot/hand, clutch in/out...dammit.

Any suggestions? Besides oil change...as i know thats on the list.

It's the neutral-finder feature. Won't let you shift to second unless the bike is moving. It's working as designed.

Not at all: When you push, the wheels turn and the positive neutral finder is disengaged. I’ve done it many times. Also never had a problem push starting in first.

I just use 1st gear to push start. Don't have to push too fast anyway since 1st gear is low. Just walking pace will do.
