Welcome, Dustin!
While you shouldn't have to do anything for a slip on, overall the lil ninja runs a bit lean from the factory. imho... it would benefit you to richen the mix up a little bit (jets/shims), no matter what exhaust you have installed.

Is there anyway you could give me a hint on how or how much to adjust it?

Dustin, do a search on this forum for "jetting database". Many members here have posted their bike setup. Perhaps you can find one that is a close match to your setup and elevation to give you a starting point and tweak from there. To answer your question directly, for your shorty slip on, perhaps 2 or 3 shims will be enough. $3, an hour or two of time and few beers to top off a good night in the garage with your bike.

A suggestion to the OP:
Don't throw away or sell your OEM exhaust. You may ultimately decide to put it back on. You may find, as many have, that louder is not necessarily better. Louder is just louder. Overly loud exhausts can be obnoxious, fatiguing and headache-inducing not just for the people you inflict them upon, but for you too. And make no mistake... the 250 can be LOUD. What matters more IMHO is the character of the sound. When I had a ninjette, it was fitted with an AreaP Quiet Core exhaust (i.e. the long muffler). It sounded FANTASTIC. Louder than stock but in no way rude, and the tone was deep, rich and resonant. Not trying to talk you out of getting the GP exhaust of your dreams, just giving you a heads-up that it might not be what you hope for. Re jetting... do a search. There are lots of threads here, including a jetting database.

When I ride my Guzzi 1000 with stock exhaust, I get enough deep sound, and a ride on the nice and very quiet 250 is refreshing. If I ever need to change the mufflers on the Guzzi, I'm going to try for something quieter. I don't find noise to be a positive thing on multi-hundred mile rides.

I have a delkevic shorty exhaust I'd sell to you for 25 bucks + shipping.
It's pretty loud. Annoyingly loud. |
