Jetting for cold weather

I have my jetting set for running K&N pods and was wondering, since I’m going to try to ride a few times a month this winter, if I should change the jetting. I can tell it runs slightly lean to where I notice it, but doesn’t affect rideability. If it won’t possibly damage anything, I’ll leave the jetting as is. Just don’t really want to pull the fairings and tank to do it if it’s not necessary. What do you guys think?

Turning out pilot-screws 1/4-1/2 turn should be all you need.
Have the plugs been removed?
If so, there's bendable adjustme tools you can reach in there to do i

Yes plugs out. I’ll try that, it feels kinda lean in the midrange though, wish getting the needles was as easy as turning the screws. Either way, I’ll richen up the idle mixture. If it’s not going to harm anything I’ll probably end up leaving the needles as they are, unless I have the tank and plastics off for another reason.

There's a lot of overlap in the adjustments. The pilot screw affects mixtures well into partial throttle mid-range.

Cold winter air is denser than summer air so I would assume that winter air contains a-bit more oxygen. I don't think, on average, a change in air temperature would merit a major jet change. Your engine may run a tad leaner but that may just help clean-up carbon in your combustion chambers. I did have a car one time that had a-little more power on a cold day or a very humid day but it was ridiculously over-carbureted. It was a 78 C.I. auto engine with two Weber two barrel 40mm sidedraft carbs on it.

I figured I was just overthinking it, makes sense if it’s running normal enough to be rideable then chances of engine harm are slim. And yes it gets cold here around this time, so my guess is I’d ride once or twice a month when 50 degrees feels warm. Thank you for the response, much appreciated.

What jets are you running with the k&n filter? Im looking to run the same and will need to purchase a few to really tune this thing in. I believe mine are sitting at 108, I think 105 is stock if Im not mistaken

I think you're right. Checking my Service Manual Supplement from 2000 to 2007 the stock main has been 105. For what it's worth I'm running 110s with the only modification being my Yoshimura mufflers.

We had 108 Mains, 2 shims on the needle, stock Pilot jets, and 2.75 turns out with pod filters and a leaky stock exhaust running ethanol-free 87 octane.

Pulled strong all the way from idle to redline and beyond - where it spent most of it's time with my son aboard...
