Well that's unexpected...

A couple days ago I was getting ready to do an oil change and clean out the oil screen when this happens:

As I lift the bike the stand twisted a bit (which may not be super clear in the pics) and then fell off and away from me. Luckily my truck was next to it, so my bike gently fell on it. No damage to the truck and just some mirror scuffs on the bike, and god am I happy for that!

These come highly un-recommended now...
Time to save up for a pitbull stand.

That must be very thin pipe, ive been thinking about making my own stands at work, now i think ill make sure to use pipe thats a little thicker

Use square structural tubing.

the only thick square tubing we have at work would equal a stand that is like 50lbs when i can make it out of like 11guage material and it be fine

My cheapo stand from motorcycle-superstore looks the exact same way and does twist as well, but I've never had problems with it. It's been holding up my r6 for 2 months straight too. Is it possible you had a bad angle on the spools?

My Handy Industries (front and rear) and Vortex (front pin) stand are working without any problems - I was afraid the Handy's might bend, but nothing yet.

I don't know, I've been using it for a couple years without an issue using the same technique to lift it, so maybe. But now its bent inward and at an angle, so I don't trust using it at all. Structurally it has always had a bit of twist in it when used but now it has permanently deformed.

Not bad. You got 2 years out of the tool for under $50 right? You win some, you lose some. Mine's a bit tweaked, but I doubt I'll replace it until it does what yours did.

I paid $75 for it from motorcycle gear (DMP spec 3 or 2 rear spool stand) way back when I first got the ninja. It is one of those kinds of stands you assemble too, so it probably wasn't going to last forever. Now I know to get something that is just one sturdy solid piece.

it looks like you have two right-side hooks on the end of the stand... but one of them has been turned around to be a left-side hook.......

No it isn't, don't let the little rubber bits fool you. They fall off all the time, and after the stand bent and nearly dropped my bike and chucked the stand in the yard lol.
