Toll pricing for motorcycles

A local rider here in Houston putting up a petition to lower toll costs for motorcyclists seeing how we are being charged the same amount as cars.

Help out by signing it and spreading the word

You're allowed to use a full-size parking space, no? There is merit to paying less in general road-use taxes based on the weight of the vehicle. However, 'per use' fees such as tolls and parking costs should be equal, lest we end up 2nd-class citizens.

Just my $.02.

We're allowed to cut traffic, who cares if we pay the same for tolls

This is mostly pertaining to the Houston location and plus lane splitting is not legal here in Texas.

Hence the argument for lower fees for motorcycles. If it's based on weight of the vehicle, than the toll should be adjusted to that, except motorcyclists are charged the cost of "2 axles". A vehicle carrying a trailer or has more axles is charged more.

The only place I can recall different than anywhere else is on the New York/New Jersey Turnpike, where motorcyclists pay less in tolls. Maybe someone from the area can confirm this.

The single sided swingarm like a ducati doesn't have a rear axle more like just a hub. So buy a $20,000 ducati and start saving with half toll pricing

Just pay the tolls and think of it as money well spent to keep your bike on smooth grippy surfaces.

OR since on a bike, don't use the Tollway and take a more enjoyable route..take in some scenery :P

This is about TX all though I never ridden a bike there. I remember the roads/highways were well maintained.

We have a lot of ****** roads.

Also, avoiding toll around here is either a ridiculous long trip even by highway (circling the entire bay area by highway instead of cutting through the middle on a bridge takes about 2 hours round trip lol), or just plain not possible because of how the roads are set up.

Good point, guess I've gotten to used to my area, where other routes are very possible and didn't think it fully through :P
