Quick question, spark plug removal

Is the 08+ spark plug removal tool the same as the pre-gens? My 06 didn't come with a tool kit, and I can find more new gen tool kits for sale than pre gen.

Generally it is all the same. Most sparkplug sockets have built in plug retrievers. Hell you can use a piece of rubber hosing to remove it.

I usually stick the coil pack connector back in to retrieve the spark plug after i loosen it.

Do you know what size socket I need for it? I'll probably just go buy one at autozone or someplace.

5/8 sparkplug socket. Look inside of it should have some sort of rubber bushing to secure a plug when loose.

As mentioned hose also works great to pull them out. On my WRX b/c the spark plugs go in the sides of the motor (flat IV), I can't even change my plugs without my handy 5/8" fuel hose to retrieve my spark plugs.

On the Ninja though the OEM tool is next to none in removing the plugs. With a little modification from a dremel it also worked on my friends ZX7, which a normal 5/8" socket wouldn't fit.

I'm not sure off hand if the newgen tool is identical to the pregen or not, but I'm willing to be it is.
