A note on Arashi 310mm rotors (Chinese ebay rotors)

This is just some documentation/record keeping/note-taking.

I have taken the time to measure a used front brake rotor bought from subxero. It is a semi-floating style brake rotor with anti-rattle springs on the buttons. This rotor has been adapted to a 4-pot brembo that you would find on 2000s Ducatis.
I measured the thickness of the rotor across 18 different points. 9 across from the buttons holding the rotor to the center carrier and the 9 points between them. Each measurement was between 0.192-0.193 in or 4.88ish-4.90ish mm. Pretty ballin'.

The service limit given by the seller/manufacturer of Arashi rotors is 4.5mm down from 5.0mm new. This is comparable to the difference between the OEM service limit of 4.0mm and new thickness of 4.5mm.

This amount of wear and consistency looks promising to say the least, and it has already been field tested for thousands of miles. I'm ready to scuff these up, clean them, and put them on the Ninja.

How was your drive back to NJ?

But yeah, I was and am very impressed with that rotor. I don't know for certain how many miles I put on it?? Looks like I installed back in May 2014. That being said I have to have put around 5k on it. I put those pads and the rotor on the same time and those pads are completely gone.

Keep us posted on what you think of the setup once you get it all back together.

I love the smell of burning pre-mix in the morning

I don't think I'm a lot dumber than you thought that I think that I thought I was once.

Drive was uneventful other than accidentally taking a wrong turn into downtown Philly.

I intend to continue measuring the rotor to gauge wear.
