How difficult would this 12v Adapter be to install?

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/p...rd-duty-10-amp

I'm going on a trip that is 200 miles, to Virginia Beach, and I want to make sure my phone doesn't die. My phone is the Droid Razr Maxx, so it has a lot of juice compared to most phones, but its a 4 hour trip and I feel even that might be too much with constant GPS activity.

I've never messed with the wiring in my bike and I leave Friday, should I even attempt doing this short-notice?

That's really simple, Just connect the end of the cable with the inline fuse to your battery and run it up to where you want it. Takes about 15-20 min to install. It's also a good time to check your battery terminals.

I made one so that it is portable. I can remove it when not in use (stick it in the tank bag) and use it for my battery charger, jumper cables & portable air pump as well.

See the one I did. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showp...3&postcount=11

Powerlet makes things that are very easy to install. As @DaBlue1 said, just pos to pos, neg to neg, run the wire to where you want the socket to live and tada. The kit should come with instructions on basic installation as well.

Just note that going straight to the battery means that the SAE plug will be hot all the time. Not so much an issue if you remove the cigarette socket between rides (not many carry SAE plugs with them) but if you leave the cigarette socket attached and visble, anyone technically could use your bike to top up their devices as well if they have a car charger on them.

So if I had the socket hooked directly to the battery, would it drain the battery when not running or does it not drain it enough to kill it?

As long as nothing is plugged in, the battery will not drain.

Okay, sounds good. Turns out the kit allowed me to do the same setup as you, have a disconnect near the same exact spot
