CMRA Season Opener EX250 racing

Had some great racing last weekend at the first round of the CMRA 2014 season. The E Superstock race had 31 riders, I started around the middle of the pack, and managed to win it:

Later in the day, my teammates and I competed in a 2-hour endurance race on the same bike. We got 8th overall out of 40 starting teams, good enough for 3rd place in the 250 class. This video is from my stint to finish out the race.

What were you on and what times? I rode the first 1:20 of the race before you got on and I saw you pass my partner once. I'm guessin if you ran ESS it's a 250 bit some of those closing speed were fast.

That's a 2012 EX250. I was just getting up to pace when the endurance race ended, I think I put down one high 1:09 lap just before the checkers. In the sprints earlier that day I ran mostly low :10s with a couple of 09s:.

My second time on that track and first race since 2012. I only managed a :17 waiting for the repaved ECR.

Is there traction on the concrete in the key-hole?

Yes - that concrete patch has very good traction, and the seam doesn't upset the bike much if you have to cross it.

Nice riding! I was there too but losing about 10 seconds per lap to you. Are you getting into 6th gear before the launch? Have any ecr videos I can study?

Yes, we were geared 17/56 (428 pitch) and were nearly tapping out 6th headed into Launch.

I haven't ridden ECR on a 250, but I'm planning to in a couple of weeks and will post some video.

Made an appearance in the first video, #554. I ended up 8th in that race and 7th in the F4 race with a best lap of 1:14.351

To my defense, I had never been on this track until the last 3 sessions of Friday practice, and I had not been on the new bike setup with the pirelli tires, also, first time on a bike at the track this year. I will try and be up there with you at TWS. Lets see. Though you do weight about 45lbs lighter than me. I am working on that.

Are there any races you don't win? You won your 3 SV races also, but did come in 2nd on Formula 4. Good showing this weekend Zach

Hehe, thanks! Yeah, Brad passed me in the next to last corner of the F4 race, and I was passing him back as went over the finish line. Those SV wins were just in the Novice class - it's going to be a whole different game if/when they put me in Expert.

Novice or not man, you are getting it done. I am trying to get up your level, maybe on a couple tracks I can be there with you guys in the front. Working hard at the GYM to drop the weight.

Great videos man. Looks like you were eating guys up in the straights as well as corners. Healthy motor ya got.

We've had 30+ bike grids at CVMA but 20+ is the average. I love crowded grids!:dance cool:

Side note: It's always weird to me to see grass on the sides of the track. lol. What is that green stuff?!?!

I've never been to ECR, will they let you run the short course (like LWE will run with CMRA) or do they always run the "long" course? I would love to see some video of the short course if anyone has some...?
