Anything that damages or destroys fire ants is a good thing

hope it doesn't backfire like other plans in the past, and the flies end up being a problem too.

Very true. Something similar happened with the killer bee's.

Well it's about time they caught up to Animal Kingdoms 10 Most Extreme. I remember seeing those on that show.

Link to original page on YouTube.

yeah... idk. don't mean to sound pessimistic, but who knows for sure if the flies won't decide to start injecting other animals and insects with their eggs.

I'm very wary about the Dept. of Agriculture introducing one new species of insect to combat another species who's populations have exploded. It doesn't always go well. Look at the ladybug problem people have every fall. My house was literally covered with them a couple of years ago. After a little research I discovered they weren't ladybugs at all. Not the native ones I grew up with, anyway. They are Asian Lady Beetles introduced to the U.S. years ago to combat the aphid problem. Instead of dying every year like the native ladybug, these hibernate for the winter and they like to do it in attics and crawlspaces. Which is why they swarm over houses every fall instead of just disappearing. In Asia they look for white cliffs to hibernate in and if you have a white house it looks the same to them. I finally painted my house in an attempt to get rid of them every year and it actually worked. Now my neighbor's white houses on either side are still besieged every fall and my green house is relatively untouched.
