2007 Ninja 250 won't start

Hi, I have a 2007 Ninja 250 and it has been sitting for 8 months while I was at school. Now when I try to start it the bike makes a clicking sound that sounds like it is coming from the fuse box.

-Tested the battery and it shows 12V.
- Bike won't bump start. It seems like the rear wheel is locked and it skids.
- Screwdriver across solenoid does not start the bike.
-Jumping the relay does not turn the starter motor, and the voltages to the relay are normal.
-All fuses intact.

Try turning the engine by hand first.
Use the plug on the left side engine's cover.

first cast haste on the starter motor, then thundaga on the battery.

nm, just check the battery and crank the motor by hand

Charge the battery. It may be showing 12V with no load, but still have not enough energy to engage the starter.

dead battery.

also, jump start the bike in 3rd, not first. when you let the clutch out, jump or land on your butt... basically push the rear wheel down with your body weight when you let the clutch out so it doesnt skid

Thanks I'll try these and report back tomorrow. I really hope it isn't the battery I replaced it before I left for school.

Well I put it on the center stand and turned it on, put it in first gear with clutch out, and tried to spin the rear wheel and it didn't move very much before locking.

Now I see, thanks

If it didn't turn with a jumping cable (the donor's engine should have been off), then, your engine may have something internal preventing it from turning.

If your friend cannot make it turn by hand (no excessive force), he may want trying taking both spark plugs out and pouring some drops of Magic Oil into each cylinder for overnight soaking.

I will give that a shot next time I can get over there. I think I have some Marvel Mystery Oil somewhere to try for that too. Will update as soon as we can!

You're not gonna spin the engine by hand through the wheel or bump start it after it's been sitting, the carbs are most likely clogged. Your battery should read 12.6V+ if it's fully charged, 12.4(iirc) or less if it's dead. The clicking is your starter solenoid, your battery is dead. Either charge it or clean the carbs and try to bump it again. When you bump it you have to slam your ass down on the seat when you drop the clutch or it'll skid like you said

Also when you're getting moving to bump start it leave the transmission in neutral until you're ready to drop the clutch, less friction that way. Easier on the pushers

Firstname, Glide, RD, and Lightning. You are a lucky man. I'll pretend I didn't see the GS550.

Get a tie down and pull the 250 with Glide. Get your speed up to about 35MPH and have him dump the clutch. Make should you get it on video!

Just as an update, the bike is running now. I took the battery to my place and put it on a tender here. It actually charged like it should have.
Put the battery back in the bike, and it started right up.

Thanks for all the other suggestions though!

Another update The bike did run after charging but the battery won't hold the charge. After a few days the bike wouldn't start. I can bump start it and a couple times (if i ride 30+ minutes) it will turn on again but the battery dies pretty quickly and if it is a short ride then there is no chance of it starting. My friend doesn't have time to check it out so I'm bringing it to a bike place nearby. At least I can ride it there.

You can get the battery tested for free at autozone/advanced/napa.... Cheaper than a mechanics hourly rate
