Firefox

The one at work has been crashing quite a bit lately. Mainly on sites like Youtube. It has been driving me nuts.

So I got an alert about an update...I don't think I have clicked "download" so fast before in my life.

So far so good. Hope this one is more stable than the last.

I haven't made the switch to chrome, but I am finding it more useful lately. They both have their problems but chrome loads up lightning quick compared to firefox now.

My cousin's husband loves Chrome. I just have not tried it yet. All I know is regardless of which one a person chooses, they are still better than IE.

Whichever one you choose, make sure that your updates are truly working. In Firefox, if you go to the help menu and choose "about firefox", it should show you version 16.0.2. If it doesn't, it should give you a button there to update. If it ultimately doesn't get you to that latest version, download a new installer directly at www.mozilla.org.

Same thing with Chrome. Pull down the settings menu, choose "about google chrome", and it should show you version 22.0.1229.94. If it's lower than that, it should show you that it's already trying to update. Same as with Firefox, if it ultimately doesn't get you to that latest version, download a new installer directly at www.google.com/chrome.

Mine is on the latest update. Still having issues, but nowhere like last night. It has crashed twice on me. One at the end of my work day this morning, and once tonight. Before it was crashing about once every 45 min.

They'll fix it in due time.

I have recently switched to chrome from firefox. I'll use firefox every once in a while but Chrome seems to be working faster and flawlessly.

Chrome is faster for sure. It uses less resources. I've been a firefox user since nearly the beginning and switched about a year ago. I got tired of the constant FF updates and then it forced itself to update which made my lose my multirow toolbar. That was the last straw for me.

Apex- if your FF is crashing, try running it in safemode. It might be an add-on causing you problems.

start button>all programs>Mozilla Firefox> Mozilla Firefox (safemode)

That's the main feature that chrome got right from the beginning. It auto-updates in the background, virtually seamlessly. This was clearly one of the design requirements up front. Google pushes out updates over and over again to the browser as things are found and then fixed, yet its users very rarely notice that it even has been updated, other than new features that have been added. They are on version 22.X already!

Firefox did not have an updating process nearly that seamless, but it is something they've worked hard on, and have pretty much caught up. If you are at the current version, it will do a pretty good job of auto-updating itself as new releases come out. It's also very easy to manually check now, just by looking at the about firefox menu item.

I don't get it. Firefox 2, 3, and 4 were there for the longest time. Then last time I checked it was on version 10. I just checked a second ago and it's version 16!

I started using Chrome since the day it came out and haven't looked back since. It's a lot more stable than Firefox, and can still run your basic add-ons.

I remember my favorite feature of Firefox was an add-on to rip music from Pandora and the like.
