Sold my Ninja today. It was kind of sad but I hadn't ridden it much since I bought the KLX last year. Decided it was time to let it go. I learned a lot on that bike and hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I did.

Second day I'm back on ninjette and this is what I see

----

Removed the water pump to see that it was completely shot, bearings inside were destroyed and the pump was stalled and leaking into my oil. was cheaper just to buy a used one in working condition than try to fix it.

I also stared longingly at it in the garage.

One day I'll be able to ride it

I know, I know. But it was time.
@choneofakind You better! Somebody has to be out there defending the pregens look. And kicking ass on the track with one.

say it isn't so!!!! but I do see the good reasoning. You make me want to get a KLX.

oh, I just got my crack in my header welded up. Okay weld job. Time well tell how well it will hold up.

dude, you have done way too much making your 250 sick to just let it go, I can almost guarantee that you would regret selling it.

on topic:
rode with a squid on an f4i and another one on a katana and schooled them both through every twisty road (they got me back on the straights though lol)

fun fact of the day:
from a stop a Ninja 300 is almost even with a katana 600...almost it's at around 60-80mph where the katana really pulls away
obviously the f4i dominated the straights

For the crack in my header welder but now I need new gaskets. Damnit. Note to self: stop wrecking.

Wait... I got the old ones from the parts 250. Hope it works!

Doubled up on the old gaskets and had torque down the nuts more to get it to seal. No leaks for now!

Talking

I took my first extended ride today! (100 miles) Did it on 55-65 mph roads to avoid the interstate and to hit some curves. Had only done 65 miles total before today so it was a big step for me personally.

Had a GREAT time! Practiced looking through my turns and keeping on my throttle as well. Had one idiot put out in front of me but I saw it coming and it wasn't an issue.

That being said I'm sore as hell! Yikes, gonna need to hit the gym again to get my leg strength up. Ear plugs are a must in the future, I now understand that fatigue people talk about.

I know this is small potatoes compared to what others do but to me today was a real confidence booster!

Parked the bike inside my work building where I teach first grade kids, so it wouldn't get stolen during a field trip. As we re-entered the building, I had literally 37 boogery, slobbery, snotty ass children run their hands over my bike

Rode around a bit, checked the tire pressure, and realized it must be low. Also, cleaned the carbs last Sunday.

That was the result of my lowside into a bunch of dirt. I'll get it cleaned up when I mount new tires on.

Which lead to you getting their numbers, right?

It's amazing how we riders are treated by others. Some find us intimidating while others find us attractive in a edgy kind of sense.

Then we've got cagers who want to bug us. But I usually ignore them and let the gixxer guys take care of any silver spooned kids driving in their souped up muscle cars.

Oh and as for me, I replaced the cover fairing (gauge surround). Somehow even that piece got scuffed up during my crash. Then again the crash ripped through the front cowling so it shouldn't be too surprising.

EDIT: I actually posted this prior to finishing the vid so nvm, no numbers. Glad you were out there to though. We need more people like you.

Finally had an opportunity to test the FIAMM horn I installed. Definitely got the inattentive driver's attention

ETA: ****. I don't know when it happened but I went back to where I parked my bike and discovered that the bolt holding the exhaust can to the passenger peg bracket is completely gone.

Finally put new rubber on the '06 pre-gen... got a set of Pirelli MT75's (100/80/16, 120/80/16)

My front tire was the OEM Dunlop K630 (100/80/16) & rear was a cheapy Cheng Shin (130/80/16). Just so you have an idea of how bad my front tire was, the bike has over 21,000 miles on it! The Cheng Shin was still ok but really squared off.

These new tires feel SO much better! Huge difference in handling... they say they are really soft so I'll see soon how well they grip.

Pretty sure the nut rattled off and bolt fell out. An should still be attached since it's clamped to the exhaust pipe

Buffed her up with wax, painted the front sprocket cover to match the rest of my growing green accents. repainted and re clear coated the grab bar since i F'd it up with S hooks. polished my pipe, all pun intended >=D. also checked the whole LED system for grounds or shorts and cleaned the LED bar above the back wheel.

here are some pics

ignore the ugly yellow light, previous owner dyed the inside of the light and i still havnt replaced it. kills me inside a little each time is look at it.

Can was still there. Somehow it's not surprising the bolt shook off seeing as how I bought this bike with quite a few missing bolts...

I abused the crap out of her so badly she visited Heaven and Hell in a single day. I even got to go sightseeing!

Rode out to Idaho Springs, CO and pre-rode the road up to mountain to see it in the daytime-ish. Then I began my actual ride at 4am MDT and ascended to a whopping and very chilly 14,130' to the parking area on Mt. Evans. 21 hours later I knocked on the Devil's door at Badwater, CA where it is -282' AND FARKING HOT! In between, I even stopped by Four Corners monument to just take in the sights. LOL
