Gipsy sat on my bike :)

Yesterday, while I was working at my office on a desk next to the window I looked at my bike and ..... saw one Gypsy just having a seat on my bike. Another one was standing in front of him preparing to make a shot with his cellular.
It is a ground floor , so I stand up and ran otside... right in time to see haw hi takes off the stand. Probably he assumed that will not be enough macho on a picture taken on a bike on a stand.
After my yelling they run away, I didn't chase them, because of my clients.
The guy wasn't trying to steel it. What really pissed me of me was - what would happened if I was not in my office...no one witness the situation...and the boy drooped of the bike on the sidewalk i ran away?
I red a thread about a similar accident.
Just called a friend to come and put an alarm.

I'm glad we have comissionaires at my building next to where we park our bikes at work. I would of freaked if this ever happened to me.

I am very protective of my bike as well and do not like people sitting on or touching it unless I give them permission.

I think it is very rude to sit on someone elses' bike without their permission. You don't know what could happen. I am also leary of kids coming up to the bike, especially after I just parked it. The pipes are hot and you never know where those kids are going to go for. Then who's fault is it?? I am sure they would sue me. ><'

The great thing about having a DR650, most people are short enough to not want to try and sit on it.
Plus it's a essentially a dirt bike so it doesn't attract quite as much attention as a sport bike.

The alarm on mine stops that behavior in its tracks. The warn away goes off and if they persist the alarm sounds then end of story. Its set sensitive for those that like to touch way too much....

It is the best solutiion.

I am a humble businessman, but on the upper floors in the building where my office is, are few companies....some of these guys, you know
( as seen in movies ), BMW X5, X6, Mercedes Brabus... armed guards and so on...
I thought that it's safe enough around.

@BlueTyke - you are right. What if a kid starts to climb on the bike and if the bike falls on to him? Who's fault is gonna be? I prefer this not to happen.

I hold "sit on my bike day" at the local starbucks. I ride up to Starbucks and put a sign up that reads, "feel free to sit on bike...take a picture..."

It's my way of giving back to the community.

Saw a Sons of Anarchy episode on FX last summer. This sportbike rider sits on one of the gang members HD for a pic. Gang member says let me take pic for you. Says heres a before pic, then whacks the guy in the face with a helmet and says now for the after pic.

In real life however quite a rude situation. If a convertible car was parked with the top down would he jump in to have his pic taken. Maybe one chase away will keep them away for good. I have private parking at my office, but its on the side of the building that i can't see. Good thing is we are not right along the main road so not many strangers wander over to here.

Yeah, people touching things that aren't theirs is a pet peeve of mine. When I have my hair very long people always touch it without asking, same with my tattoos.

It is not difficult. But it's not the same alarm - you know better than me.

Can't imagine it's all that hard, however...
The main problem is the drain it puts on the battery.

How would it be to have that sign and put it in front of someone else's bike!? (Hint: Run away before he catches you )

Yes...It is a different type of alarm, with lower energy consumption.
Mine is Bulgaria specialy designt for bikes. At least the guy told me so .

Can't explain you in details, my English is not good enough.
Anyway....Here people steal almost everything. Most of my friends usually put an ordinary car alarm and it works. It is not ordinary...these are Chinese alarms ... cost about 15 - 20 euros. And they work.
You shouldn't leave the bike with armed alarm for more than a weak.

Wow that's grade A horsesh*t right there. It's bad enough that they were posing on your bike, but the fact that they were about to put up the stand....that's just mind blowing. People can be douchebags sometimes

That's the only thing bad about the gas tank noise elimination mod. Before I did it the tank would squeal all day if I parked it in the sun and everyone thought the alarm was going off and wouldn't go near it.

There was one guy that used to put a motorcycle cover at work so nobody knew what kind of bike he had so no one went to look at it.

Easiest mod actually... and very little drain on the battery. Have never had a problem with running the Gorilla bike alarm on my 2007 and 2009's interferring with my battery and its always on without even needing to trickle charge the battery. You can go for the bells and whistle alarms, but the more lights blinkin, horns blarin, etc... will certainly impact the battery. The Gorilla is all thats really needed and again so easy to install. Price point great too

My old GS500, some drunk thought it would be cool to throw a leg over my bike one night. I lived near a bar, so I should have taken a better step towards protecting my bike. Anyway, I woke up the next day (during the weekend). I went out to my bike because I wanted to do a nice morning ride due to great weather. I noticed something was not right with my bike. I soon discovered that my bar end (the anti-vibe end) broke off, hit my tank and left a rather large dent, and scraped up part of the side of my bike. Of course I couldn't do anything about it. I had to suck it up and just be ticked off.

People don't realize that sitting on a person's bike is like someone sitting in their car. I know good and well they'd object if they came out and I was sitting in their car because it was there. They'd probably blow up, yet if they sit on a bike, it is no big deal.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really dislike people who think it is ok to sit on another person's bike w/o permission.
