Unknown carb part
Hey guys, hopefully you can help me with a predicament. I had taken my carbs apart to clean the other day and this little part fell out while I was flipping the carbs upside down. The thing is, I don't know where it came out of. I checked the exploded diagrams and couldn't find it.
2+ heads are better than one so if anyone could help me figure out where it came from that would be splendid. This came out of a 2004 Ninja 250r. Sorry, the link was messed up. |

Have you posted a picture of the part?

I've had my 09 carbs apart a few times and I don't remember seeing that part anywhere. Older carbs could be different I guess.
BTW... Can you add another picture that includes a known object within the picture so we can have an idea of the scale of the suspect part.

Here's a lame over the head shot & size comparison shot.
Does a press in needle jet fit underneath the main or aux jets? When this fell out both jets were out already. |

Gizmo above emulsion tube/main jet
See the pic above "Cleaning Process", even has instructions on which way it goes in.

Its the needle seat and goes under the main jet. Beveled side towards the needle.

So that's how it happens, just turn the carbs upside down and the needle seats fall out and get lost.
Anyone remember that recent thread in which @azwillnj spent an incredible amount of time and effort trying to get his new-to-him 2007 to run? And it turned out that his carbs didn't have any needle seats in them when he bought it! He totally proved that there's no way to get an EX-250 to run well without needle seats in the carbs (no matter how many times you clean the carbs). The thread has some really good pictures of the needle seats on page number 4. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=98983 |

The only problem with linking to posts is that they only seem to list one post as opposed to making them the starting post on the page.
http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showp...&postcount=138 But yes, the needle seats just fall out if you aren't careful. They aren't press fit because they need to be replaced when they wear out.
