Missed moto 3 but caught moto 2 and GP. Interesting final lap, more pleased to see Marquez finish one.

I'm not a Marquez fan but that was all Rossi there. Watch it again. Rossi leans into him, gives him an elbow. That was Rossi.

You mean Rossi rides his bike and Marquez stuffs himself right where Rossi is supposed to be?

Was Rossi supposed to...not lean? In to a turn?

i think maybe rossi was supposed to get out of the way. he was ahead by at least half a bike length... that means you're losing right? the leader is supposed to move so the people behind can go in front right?

I usually watch moto3, just missed it this past weekend. Get busy sometimes.

Lorenzo kinda just disappeared in 3rd, which has a bit weird since the last few races he has just dusted the full pack.

That seems to be his trick, bully his way into 1st. At least he made it a push for 1st and made it a good race.

It is the responsibility of the passer to make the pass cleanly. It is not the responsibility of the passee to get out of the way.

This is true in all forms of racing.

Bad things happen when the passee alters line and slams the door too late... that usually takes both riders/drivers out. Such action is punishable by sanction if it's clear that the passee altered line to collide with the passer.

Rossi was on the racing line, so no sanction. He was ahead when he had to stand the bike up and cut the corner, so he didn't gain a position.

End of story... he won. Marquez tried like hell, but couldn't quite get there.

Glad to see he's back in it. I'd love to see him get in the middle of the Rossi/Lorenzo fight as a wild card and have the championship go right to the last round.

I'm also psyched to see both Ducati and Suzuki running so strong, albeit with the artificial advantages afforded them by the rulebook. As a "new" team, Suzuki is making huge strides in a very short time.

Marquez is overly aggressive. He pushes through and gets away with it. I respect his amazing skill but I can't frigging stand him actually. (All of those off season pics of him and his brother smiling like idiots...anyway).

You guys are seeing something completely different than me. Rossi is no angel. Look back at video of their incident in Argentina. Look carefully. Notice Rossi make a small push on his bars to tighten his line on MM at Argentina right before they touch. VR heard him coming up the inside and closed the gap and they touched. Rossi is the master.

Now look at the pics below and go back and look at the video. I'm not saying that Rossi didn't have the line, I'm saying that he closed the gap again. Same move that he's used a thousand times before. I think that he'd kept his arm in like in the first pic he'd probably have lost to MM's drive and he'd have been off line. Rossi got lucky. Great race.

That said-- Who thinks that Lorenzo is still going to win the championship? I bet Jorge comes back from the break strong.

Look everyone that is saying this is some kinda MM93 ram fest is simply looking at this through yellow tinted glasses. The fact of the matter is there was NOTHING wrong with Marquez move in the chicane. Nothing. It was not punished, it was not wrong, it was not illegal. It was hard, and it should be, on the last lap of a GP with two hard riders. He would have made the corner with no contact, he had practiced it several times in the FPs.

There was also NOTHING wrong with Rossi's move to slam the door on Marc. Nothing. It was not illegal, it was not wrong, and it was not punished. It was hard. And it should have been. He tightened his line into Marc and squeezed him. He as in front, by a very small amount and would not have been for much longer had he not made the move, and it was his right to the line. Rossi didn't back down, Marc didn't back down and we had contact.

As much as I would have like to see Rossi come out losing on that one, he knew exactly what he was doing, knew he was going to cut the corner after contact, and knew it would not be penalized. It was Rossi's race craft and experience that won him that.

Kudos to Marc for putting together a sick last lap to give himself a chance, and kudos to Rossi for an excellent weekend. He was the benchmark all week. That encounter could have gone three ways, like it did with Rossi coming out, Marc winning, or Lorenzo winning. All three outcomes would have been fair play as the result of two of the hardest riders in history going for it in a final corner. Racing incident ..... end of story.

MotoGP.com has video showing the incident from a few different angles. I just watched it. I have to back-pedal just a little. The overhead view shows Marquez as loose as could be and still be upright at entry. There was almost no way he was going to make the turn. Rossi was on line. He did tighten but it was 85% MM and 15% VR. I'll see if I can link to it.

I've seen it, at pretty much all the angles. Watch the FP lines MM93 takes through the chicane and they are very similar. He would have made the corner, but only if VR46 backed off his line. It was, from the beginning, planned to be a hard block pass. Rossi simply played the situation to his benefit, like has been said ...... experience and race craft. Bradley Smith summed it up when he said Rossi knew that once there was contact, he had a free pass.

I think you're right. The problem is MM fans are making a fuss that Rossi shouldn't have cut the corner, shouldn't be in first etc.

Marquez tried, he was very close, it didn't work. End of story. He was flying on that last lap and almost got far enough to be ahead in that turn but he wasn't. It was a great race with a great ending and the results came out as they should be.

I am a MM fan so I would prefer you say some MM fans are making a fuss. I am on record last Saturday as saying VR deserved the win he took.

Go back and watch the Moto3 race if you missed it. Almost every lap was as exciting as the last lap.

SORRY FOR NOT EXPLAINING THINGS PERFECTLY ON THE INTERNET.
