MotoGP could be going green in 2019 with Dorna Sports, parent company of MotoGP and World SuperBike, embracing the future of motorsports in considering a five round series of electric MotoGP racing alongside the traditional MotoGP season. The electric support series would take place at circuits with renewable energy sources for bike charging, and consist of fourteen MotoGP and four Moto2 pilots atop a standardized electric bike to be built by a single manufacturer that has yet to be announced, along with well… any other details.

The FIA, sanctioning body of Formula 1, has been running the Formula E fully electric racing series since 2014 in which we may miss the deafening howl of super-motors in comparison to the the prius farts of electric motors but hey, the future is still exciting. This has all been revealed by the head honcho himself, CEO of Dorna Carmelo Ezpeleta, in an interview with Spanish motorsports publication Motociclismo. (Hope you speak Spanish.)
