which is it?? ...these are 2 different things.

like I said, I never shift back into first unless the bike is at a complete stop. stay in second and pull the clutch in as you roll to a stop. shift into first as you watch the neutral light flash on for a second to confirm you're in first and I leave it in first the entire time I'm stopped with my eye on the rear view mirror watching for non slowing cars trying to plow up my ass.

When I roll to a stop I do the above except as I roll to a stop I shift into first gear but I do not let out the clutch. So basically I have the clutch pulled in while I roll to a stop in first gear. I do this so I can get away quickly if someone were to attempt to "plow up my ass" .

I finally got around to changing out the oil. I've been meaning to changing it out at 200 miles and it's just over 600 miles now on the odometer. I picked up a Wix filter from O'Rielly's and a Purolator from Pep Boys. The Purolator filter is of similar construction to that of the stock Kawasaki oil filter whereas the Wix is of high quality. You can see the defined and thick pleats of the Wix filter element compared to the thin pleats of the Purolator.

When I dumped the oil, I could see the fine metal shavings draining from the old filter.

I had gotten some M10 bolts but somehow one of the bolts got mixed into the batch so one was the wrong pitch. Still and enough bite for me to lift the bike up with the stand though.

You may want to check whether that oil is good for bikes. One of those ST brands isn't good for bikes.

That sounds like one great day! Congratulations Tom!

I took my ninja to school / work today and the following happened in this order:

1.) As I was riding to school at 10a.m. when I turned onto the last road before the turn off for my college campus; I was traveling 45mph behind a truck filled with manure bags; a 6'X6' piece of cardboard sailed out of the truck bed and swooshed past me about 1-3 yards away.

2.) About 1/2 mile from my house I was headed home from school and going around one of the last turns when all the sudden my visor flew completely off. I searched for over an hour and the visor was no where to be found even though I knew where it flew off . It was time for a new helmet anyway .

3.)(omw home from work trying to beat the thunderstorm)

hehe, understood. Don't live there but I'm there fairly often visiting friends.

Tried out the Go Pro Hero HD camera for the first time. Used the suction cup to mount it on the gas tank (towards the front). Left it on the default settings, 4:3 aspect ratio, 960p. Daytime quality and sound were pretty good. Lowlight quality wasn't that good. Going to try 16:9, 720p.

Replaced the OEM windscreen with Mike's:

Put some plastic spacers and rubber washers to reduce the air pressure difference at speed.

He likes it too, not as excited as I am but his 2010 250 ran much better stock than our 2011 250. Ours had a significant flat spot, his ran a bit stronger but all in all he's happy with the response. Snorkel still in... for now. Thanks kkim

Installed all new foot pegs, flush mount front blinkers, and new mirrors with integrated LED blinkers in them. Was a very fun time. Right side mirror was very easy, the left side gave me a bit of trouble but ended up getting it all done in about 3 hours.

U bought them from d2moto. http://www.d2moto.com/p-6846-univers...eet-bikes.aspx They are universal and bolted right in. Just had to get 4 longer bolts as the ones they sent were too short. Was $2.00 at home depot. As for seeing better. I haven't driven it yet due to the lovely rain/wind we had here in Ohio the pass couple days but it does look like i can see much better. It looks a lot better on the bike also instead of the old mirrors. My pics are from my droid incredible. When I get a chance I'll post some pics from my digital camera and you can get a better view of it.

I learned yesterday that shogun sliders double as an effective way to relieve cramping in my legs; just plopped my legs on them for a few and the pain goes away. O, and on my next ride I will be passing the 1,000 mile mark since I've owned my bike . It's disappointing it took me this long to go that far but we have had sooooooooo much rain lately, flooding every couple days.

haha, you got me beat.

I took apart the tail of my bike today just for the hell of it; then decided to relocate the switch for my headlight LED's to the side of my bike so I don't have to take the seat off every time I turn them off/on. I unupholstered about 3/4 of my seat to try and add some more height in the front with some old wash cloth's....yea, dumb idea, I know. I ended up stapling it back and just left it alone when I realized how stupid I was . But I knew I wanted to raise the front of the seat just a little for a more comfortable ride so I ended up attaching 2-3 layers of 3m tape where the seat rests on the metal piece that attaches the gas tank. I went out and rode it for a few minutes (first ride in the rain) and it seemed more comfortable but I'll see if it makes a difference on longer rides; and by comfortable I mean it doesn't pinch / crush the family jewels. I'm starting to get tired of that...especially when riding with a trunk monkey.

Yes, yes it is.

Can't wait to get it cleaned up and bust out my DSLR to do a proper photo session with it. Can't believe I've had it 6 weeks (to the day, come to think of it) and still haven't washed/waxed it yet. Stinkin' spring weather.

I just wired up a 12v lighter socket to my battery to charge my phone / gps if need be. I added the socket and a 15a fuse on the hot wire just to be safe. I finished it, everything worked great (chargers worked fine), I went to put the lighter back in the socket and it blew the fuse, turns out the lighter was a pos and swapped it out for another lighter, works great now .

Nope, I used velcro. If I remember I'll take a pic tomorrow to show you. It's just under the dash on the left side, enough space to fit my bulky phone charger. I didn't feel like going through a lot of trouble so the velcro seemed like the easiest option. Plus I can change the angle of the socket quickly and easily; just peel off and stick back on.
