Edit: New ZX-25RR announced! Original: First pixels of a real Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R?

Not exactly spy pics, but Kawasaki US is now teasing seven unannounced 2023 models to be revealed October 4th, 2022. In the teaser image (attached) at least six are bikes... probably all seven. I suppose one COULD be a personal watercraft or something but they are all under covers with one positioned where you can't see wheels even if it has them. I'm pretty sure we can see a reflection of a wheel on the floor so I'm assuming all 7 are bikes.

Five of them have spoked wheels for dual-purpose/offroad bikes but you can see one with proper sportbike rims. You can also see a bit of the lower fairing and some pipes right where the ZX-25R has them. ZX-4R is rumored to have an extended exhaust to meet EPA guidelines but you'd expect it to be the same underbelly routing as the ZX-25R up to the point where it extends out, and that may be the case here. It's also rumored to add a second front disc brake. We can see a brake from the left side but it's hard to tell if it's actually ON the left side. What do you guys think?

I'm hoping the 7th bike is the EV, HEV, or EV Endeavor.

Edit: IMGUR link is probably going to retain more pixels...
https://i.imgur.com/k5xSpNj.jpg

Post-reveal edit: Guess the sport bike is just a new 2023 Ninja 650 KRT Edition along side the Z650 version. Yeah, unceremoniously dropping it on their website would've been a strange way to announce their hybrid, electric, or ZX-4R, so I guess we are back to waiting on EICMA 2022 in November... where we were originally told to expect the ZX-4R announcement before the website tease. After these, there isn’t much left to announce for existing models returning for 2023, so Kawi must have something new for EICMA. We already know there’s an electric, a hybrid, and a small-displacement in-line 4 super sport. I’d love to se a super naked based on the ZX-4R too.

Kawasaki Indonesia is now teasing something for October 1st, and this one is specifically ZX-related:

Link to original page on YouTube.

According to Google’s machine translation, one of the guys in the comments worked on the mold for the updated front fender:

Maybe we should pick his brain a bit. It doesn’t sound like he’s talking about the facelift here. It sounds more like it will be different to accommodate something ZX-4R specific… like the second brake disc/caliper on the front.

I expect this to be the revised ZX-25R facelift that coincides with the new styling for the ZX-4R. They haven’t revealed the 2023 ZX-25R anywhere yet and it’s obviously because it would prematurely reveal their design for ZX-4R.

Not sure how I feel about them forcing you to get the double-R if you want green. This sets a bad precedent for the imminent ZX-4R announcement where they might do the same thing. Rumors were that the ZX-25RR would get the same dual-disc front brake as the ZX-4R but I couldn’t see a second disc on the stage. If true and the dual disc front brake is standard on the ZX-4R then perhaps there isn’t enough to differentiate a ZX-4RR. Still, if the upsell strategy works for Indonesia then it’ll probably happen here eventually.

So, yeah, the double-R gives you a ZX-10R shock and adjustable forks. True top-end super bike suspension.

Wow, pretty good specs on RR. Unfortunately it's still too heavy with too little power. Hopefully with more competition in small-bike market with Honda's CBR250RR twin and another 400 inline-4 in works, Kawi hopefully improves specs on ZX-4R over ZX-25 such as:

- alloy frame
- upside down forks
- lightweight wheels
- adjustable suspension
- 70bhp
- 380 lbs wet-weight

Something similar to FZR-400, CBR400R or VFR400RR of past would be perfect!

Well, ZX-25R already has USD forks so there’s no way the ZX-4R isn’t getting that. I do wonder if the upgraded suspension is going to be an Indonesian exclusive but the website doesn’t say anything like that:
https://www.kawasaki-motor.co.id/en-...t/ninja-zx-25r

So, yeah, we might get a double-R version of the ZX-4R as well but maybe with a bit more to distinguish it, Perhaps the second front disc brake will be an RR-exclusive (hope not). One thing is for sure: It will weigh MORE than last year’s ZX-25R by virtue of the bigger exhaust and second disc brake on the front. There just isn't any getting around that without building a whole new bike... which they aren't going to do until they've squeezed a lot more out of this one. Even then, we'll have things like ABS (soon mandatory) and emissions weighing them down compared to older bikes.

In exactly 24 hours those seven new bikes will be unveiled. 9:00AM Eastern, 6:00AM Pacific. Chances are we will finally get to see the ZX-4R!

Yeah, it's a Ninja 650 KRT. Guess we're waiting on EICMA where the rumors originally said it would be announced.

It would've been a little weird to just drop it on their website anyway. Too big of an announcement, especially considering the fanfare around the ZX-25R refresh in Indonesia. Of course, their YouTube channel updated as soon as the website did but nothing about the Ninja.

Something to note: Kawasaki’s Japanese website has not yet updated with the 2023 model ZX-25R or new ZX-25RR. Are they bumping up to 400ccs too?

In their own domestic market Japan sells all four versions of the 2-cylinder Ninjette:
2018+ Ninja 250
Ninja 400
Z250
Z400

That’s in addition to the ZX-25R, so things are already pretty crowded in that segment. Granted, the ZX-25R was already the top performer but a Ninja 250, Ninja 400, and Ninja ZX-4RR would still spread things out more.

Well, the 2023 Ninja 400 is already on the Japanese site… though the 2023 Ninja 250 isn’t. Hmm… seems that should’ve been updated along with the Ninja 400 unless they are getting rid of it or something.

Regardless, there doesn’t seem to be a good reason not to update the Japanese site for the new ZX-25R at the same time as the Indonesian site unless they are getting the unannounced ZX-4R instead or something. I mean, the cat’s out of the bag for other regions that have the 2022 bike.

Here's what possible from 400cc V4... 94 hp!! That makes up for porky +400lb weight somewhat
https://mngforce.typepad.com/nc450vd...11-engine.html

If ZX-4R inline-4 ever makes it to U.S., they can work similar magic with it.

They've got Ninja 400 twin up to 61 hp now. Mighty impressive for 300lb bike!
