Question Clutch not fully engaging?

When I start my bike it moves forward about 2-3 inches as the engine fires, in gear, clutch pulled in. I assume this is because my clutch is not engaging all the way, which means it would be wearing down my clutch at reds lights and such and thats no good. Also, the swingarm where the clutch cable attaches to the engine does not go as far back as it can, when i release the clutch I can push it back another 3 centimeters as if my cable is perhaps gunked up and not sliding in its casing?

Also, I plan on fixing my slightly tweaked handlebars today, if someone would be kind enough to link me information on the torque specifications for the pinch bolts on the front forks.

Normal. There's always a little clutch drag. It's not really wearing anything, it's just light pressure. Same thing when you put a bike up on a rearstand. In 1st, with the clutch pulled in, the rear wheel will still rotate. It sometime will even rotate in neutral.

That's why you always hold one of the brakes on when you shift into first gear from neutral. If the clutch drag is enough to move the bike forward even with the brakes on, then there is a problem, but otherwise, you're fine.

15 ft-lb upper and 22 lower.

Cold oil induces more drag due to its high viscosity.
After the engine is hot, the effect should be reduced.

Are you sure about those 3 cm?
The cable heads and the hand lever do not have so much range of movement.

Yeah, it was resting at about 2-3 cm above where it could have been, IE you could push tiny swingarm down that 2 cm after you had already released clutch and it was resting, I went out to buy me some spools and my dad fixed it though... Everything is tight now and it doesnt lurch when fired up and the cable moves smooth, my dads a boss i guess lol
