Rollerblading/inline skating

I've found a new hobby and it's an assload of fun. I don't see why this went out of style in North America. It seems to be popular pretty much everywhere except here, falling out of style in the early 2000's. I think it's time it came back. Anyone else into inline skating? Inline hockey counts.

I used to play street hockey back in the 90's. I did extreme inline back around '01 until I got hurt bad, so I quit. lol

I had a blast going up and down the beach path when I lived in Belmont Shore, Cali in the early 90s

You should fit right in with the community that still does it.

Aggressive inline is some dangerous stuff. It's essentially acrobatics over concrete on wheels. Mad respect.

Nobody where I live does it, but I'm assembling a group of pals that are interested in giving it a go. There are plenty of trails where I live, so it should be a good time. Most of 'em are, like me, retired skateboarders.

I did briefly. Could drop in on a half-pipe but didn't get more advanced than that. Switched to skateboarding cuz it was cooler lol.

I played indoor, inline hockey for 3 years, 15 years ago? It was a great sport! It died out though and the league disbanded and I switched to more motorcycling!
Funny story for me though: there were no "Oldtimers" as inline was a new sport. I had at least 20 years on the next oldest players! Guys that could have been my sons were constantly ready to drop the gloves! Lol! Probably the two best players were girls. At the time; women's hockey was still relatively new but those two schooled a lot of cocksure guys as to what hockey skills really are. It was a pleasure to watch!
I'm rambling...
I think it likely that inline died out because of injuries and Red Bull changed what was cool!

I think that covers why it went away.

I used to skate around (sometimes with sticks) with my buddies, but never did any "real" hockey or anything too extreme. Whenever I see my old Rollerblades (actual Rollerblade brand) sitting in the back, I kinda want to get a new pair.

They actually built a little skate park in town here, but the kids would probably laugh at me and beat me up if I came on blades instead of a board.

Used to go to the beach path and get in some in-line skate time. I was never able to try any of the "tricks" that some others could do, but I was able to stay upright almost all of the time.

We bought rollerblading gear many years ago, and used it occasionally when we lived close by a convenient trail. But I don't think we've used them since kids, and that's coming up on 9 years soon....

Also,

I have some fond, weird memories of my rollerblading days. The school-to-work jobs we got in HS turned into a 3:30-12:00 shift after finishing school, so we ended up skating around our little town in the middle of the night a lot. Eventually the cops that patrolled the area got used to us, and we had to find stupid (legal) ways to entertain ourselves. Ah, the good ol' days of harmless idiocy...

They also came in handy at college, since the student parking lot was all the way across campus from my dorm, and mostly downhill.
