2014 Corvette C7

Official info and pics released today. Haven't necessarily been a long-time Corvette fan, but I do think this looks good. I also like the interior. A 2-seat sports car isn't in my immediate (or even distant) future, but the price/performance of this one would make me take a look if I were in the market.

That is one hot looking car. I like the way Chevy keeps improving on not just the performance but looks of the corvette .

Oh wow, is that the new Camaro?

But seriously, it looks like the Camaro and the new Dodge Viper had a baby.

How can that be a Corvette if it has squarish taillights and 2 side windows?

The front looks a bit Aston Martinish to me....I very much approve of the front, the back could be better IMHO (but I won't say no if Chevy wants me to have one...)

I think they did a great job until the rear 6" of the car. I don't really care that the square tails aren't "correct," I just happen to think they're ugly. (and it's not the first corvette to have square tails btw, if that's your argument.) That last side profile pic is what sells the car.

On a side note, C4 vettes are already dirt cheap, and the c5s are about to plummet.

As a long time Corvette fan, I think it looks good. I doubt I'll trade in my Z06 or Coupe, but who knows once they work out new car kinks.

I used to love corvettes and always wanted one...

Until I realized I could get a faster motorcycle for 1/10 the cost

i've been in some corvettes that would blow almost any bike away like it was parked with its engine off. a friend has a zr1 fully decked out... he floors it and you can't lift your head from the seat... he said 0-60 was something horrendous in the high 2s with the right tires. he said his top speed was in the 200s but wasn't sure cause he never tried to top it out... whats funny is that car didn't even compare to the porsche gt3 a former coworker of mine has... he has spent over 250k on it (he's a bit of a bastard like that) and holy crap does it show. fastest car i've been in... i tried driving it but i was too scared to put much power into it and kept almost stalling it since its all racey setup and high strung. he said it aws 650hp and only 1800lbs but i don't know if that is accurate.... but anyway you are right, so expensive.

Let's see 5 minutes of photoshop compared to 15 years of development and they are comparably ugly without doubt, I was just pointing out how un-corvette it was.

Here is my old one, it's better looking than anything you drive, im sure.

You're right, I drive a 97 tacoma because I'm not a teenager and I don't have to try to impress people with the cars I drive.

To be clear, I like stingrays. But let's just say photoshop isn't for everyone. There's a reason the roof isn't color-matched and it has something to do with the a-pillars. And I just got a call from the 2003 ford focus who wants its super sweet fender flares back. I don't even need to touch the windshield, lack of side-view mirrors, and epic blind-spots you added.

stingrays are cool but.............. at the end of the day, its a sting ray.

i drive 88' mitsubishi mightymax truck and an 04 hyundai accent "grocery getter". if i want to go fast i do it on a bike. in order to get the same kind of satisfaction from a car i would need to spend many many dollars.

This is way too creative to attempt a retort. You win

for the record....
a. I did have the car when I was a teenager.
b. I had multiple period restored cars that I rented for movie and tv production. (a 1972 Datsun 240z, and a 1969 Mercedes 280se along with the 74 Stingray, last year before the bubble butt [Haven't liked vettes since])
c. It's about time to loose the traditional rear view mirrors and go video, it's 2013 We can do better than a shinny surface. This is supposed to be the flagship for their design direction, not a super duper camaro.

Something we can agree on for sure. State of the industry will be holographic rear view by the time they switch to backup cameras on all models though. :P

Meh, I'm a simplistic kind of guy. Less techie junk. I don't need no stinking cameras....or badges . I don't need servos controlling my AC path, just give me a stinking lever.

On topic....that back end is horrible. From the ground to the license plate, all is well...above that....ugh.

The blocky back end kills it for me. I can't decide if the rear end is ripped off of a Camero or a Nissan GTR

I think a Corvette should be sleek, athletic, and smooth, not chiseled and angular. Leave that for the Cadillac's.

Someone please put that vette on the elliptical. It's got a booty and I don't dig it.

The blind spots on the 68-76 models are huge. Those extra windows should be a helpful addition.

Not sure if I like the tail or not, I'll reserve judgment on that until I can see one in person. Overall, I like the C7

This is nifty.."an active fuel management system that enables the engine to throttle down to a four-cylinder configuration in certain situations, such as highway cruising."

Priced from about $50k, I could afford that! Though I dunno, I still really love Lotus.

We have that on our Sierra. I hate it. Every time you get up to about 55 and hold it there for about 10 seconds, it drops 4 cylinders. Then if you want to speed up, you have to put your foot down way further than you should just to get it to activate those 4 again, and by that point, you've bit pretty far into the throttle and it goes like mad when you really just wanted to ease up 1-2 mph to get out of someone's blind spot.

I hope for the Corvette they make it a little more agreeable to getting out of that mode with less throttle input. It is a performance car after all. Gas mileage should not be nearly so emphasized.

They could at least have an ECO mode switch where it will stay in 4-cyl mode more. However, if you switch it off, it should remember that it is off and keep it that way, even after a shutdown/startup. That way it could still switch to 4-banger mode, but it will toggle back with more haste.

I hope for the Corvette they make it a little more agreeable to getting out of that mode with less throttle input. It is a performance car after all. Gas mileage should not be nearly so emphasized.
The corvette is super light and will still have a ton of power on 4cyl, imagine a civic but with half a corvette engine
