Daytona 24 hour race

The race is this Saturday and Sunday but they are on the track from Wednesday on. Weather should be perfect. Be there or be square.

I rode today in gym shorts and a T-shirt (squid style) and it was nice.

Watching the stream. I WANT to be the camera guy on the roof above start-finish. He can see the entire track and the pits, except for a short stretch near pit-out.

Ganassi just had a big problem…..

Pulling for the wee Allan McNish… go 2!

Great Race! It was close right down to the finish. I don't know who that Montoya guy is but he is crazy fast.

P.S. I wanted the Ferrari to win GT.

Alex, I rode the last few days and it looks like I can ride through the week. I just hope I don't get a sunburn.

Where you been, under a rock?

Indy 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya?
Williams and McLaren F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya? Who won seven times, including Monaco? That Juan Pablo Montoya?

He's notorious for being aggressive. Always has been. Back in his F1 days -- the Schumacher-dominated era -- he was known for being the guy who took the fight to Michael and challenged him with some pretty risky moves. I remember one epic pass into Turn 1 at Interlagos (see below).

You should have seen him at last year's Daytona.

It helped that he had the fastest car among the front runners. He was able to just walk away from people once he passed them.

The new wave-by rules are making for much better racing. The commentators made a really good point… by late morning Sunday in the old days, the race basically came down to just making it to the end. It wasn't racing per se, just a reliability test. Once you were a few laps down with a few hours to go you were done for.

Now, we've got nail-biting action right up to the end. Cool.

PS: Ferraris have yet to do well in endurance racing. The Germans have this thing nailed and have for years.

Sarcasm detector inoperative.

Caffeine levels insufficient.

The Schumi pass is still cool, though.

Andrew, you get a free pass this time because I have Fairfield County on my list of "maybe" spots for a summer home.

Besides, as Tony Montana would say while in Columbia, "I never liked him".

Why the H-E-doublehockeysticks would you put a summer home in one of the most expensive counties in the nation?

It's a great place to live if you've got a decent job... nice roads, four real seasons, easy access to NYC, hills/forests and ocean too....

But costs are high. Consider Litchfield County (NW corner). Still close enough to NYC, more rural, better roads, closer to VT for winter fun.

My good friend and client Shane Lewis won the GX class aboard the Napleton Porsche.
Here is a victory poster I made for him.

SO far this season he's won the 500mile Homestead FARA, 2 week ago he won the 24hrs of Dubai, he won Class at Daytona and next week he is at 12hrs of Sebring!

He is the local pro for PBIR in florida.

I have a lot of friends there.

Like you said, its is close to the city.

Good roads.

Sailing.

Not too hot.

Close to 5 tracks.

I'm only looking for summertime (May or June to November).
