Ninja having clutch and shifting problems

I've had this bike for about 3 months and after buying it off craigslist had to take it to the shop and have a few things done to it. I had the carbs synced, cleaned carbs, fluids checked, valve alignment, and an adjustment to my clutch cable. After I received it from the shop, about 2 weeks ago I noticed that my bike lets me down shift while the clutch is not pulled in, say I would be sitting at a light in neutral and I would be able to kick the shifter down and the bike would jump and stall. And after a ride today I accidentally put it into first without the clutch and now whenever I let out the clutch to start off/shift I get kind of a grinding/popping feeling. Any ideas as to what this could be?

Sounds like the clutch is not adjusted properly. Get it adjusted so it completely disengages when you pull the lever in.

It's possible that something was damaged by your mistake, but try to get it adjusted properly first, then look into it further.

Look through this section for adjustment procedures and other questions you may have - http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Clutch_%26_Transmission
