clutch cable at engine end.

any tips for getting the little nodule at the end of the clutch cable into the lever at the engine? it is not attached at the handle bar, so i have slack. it's just a seemingly too tight fit. how i got it out is beyond me. it's like some chinese puzzle or something, and i am no einstein.

i'm pulling my hair out.

Rotate the hinged part of the lever inward until the slot is facing out. Slip the cable in and seat the nodule into the hole. Then, while keeping the nodule in place, rotate the hinged part back up.

thanks for the responses. i don't have a camera, so i'm left with trying to explain things. i tried pivoting the piece away, but still couldn't get it. so of course, i opened up a can of worms:

the clutch lever attaches to a rod of sorts which slides into the clutch encasement. i slid that out, got the ferule seated, and slid the rod back into the encasement.

is there an alignment issue that i need to be aware of? it seems the lever now rides higher than previously, but i'm not sure. i forgot to notch a mark for alignment on re-installation.

what a mess. any insight appreciated.

thanks for that thread, kkim...

that's exactly the piece i'm dealing with. although my problem is not that it is not seating. rather, it seems something is not connected inside. perhaps a pin fell out. looks like i'm going to have to take a look inside the clutch.

all for a cable lube. go figure. i wish i was rich, because i can't do anything.
