For me it's not about the money. If it was, I am in the wrong hobby here. As long as I am able to keep improving I am up for whatever decision makes that happen. We can buy our own trophys for like $5 if it was that important.
Make my own 6th place trophy lol.

Side note:
A while back I was really pissed off that this guy said that riding a 250 was not real racing and that we were just circles around the track. It really set me off because that guy didn't realize that our 250 guys were matching sv expert pace and novice middleweight pace. People looking down on me made me sad, like I didn't know how to ride a "real" bike. Enough to the point where Shane asked if I wanted to sell my 250 and pick up the SV instead. But I love my 250 and have yet to learn more on it. I have to focus on me, not what people say about me. I hate drama, but I understand getting hurt by words too. Just throwing that in there.

Until then, let us resume making fun of those slow ass wcgp sv's that can't match our times

just a heads up.. I'm all for this.. Cvma staff is discussing it.. I'll let you know asap.

You're right though, we've got 7 months to figure it out.. I'm sure some sort of announcement will be made on this prior to the start of round 4.

Thanks again for your support.

Damn Nem!

You buy an awesome toy hauler.

Then you win a Yamaha generator.

Then you get Dustin to answer an email.

What is next?

You and your Ninja Edit!

Again this is just my opinion and in no way should be taken as LAW, so to speak.

Splitting the championship points would not work for several reasons:

Not enough Experts, and too many Amateurs

Forcing amateurs at the end of the season who aren't front runners to bump up to expert status not only takes the fun away but can be very discouraging (like what happened to Darren) especially when you have a new amateur pass an expert. This is why I'm against the whole expert/amateur for this class.

Another reason is it's very difficult to get contingency for the amateurs. Most sponsors aren't willing to fork out for both classes. And that was the case when I was racing with WSMC as a Novice. Contingency only applied to the experts which sucked for us Novice racers. Well, wouldn't this encourage an Amateur to bump up to Expert status? Again, some may not want to bump up...they may want to stay where they're having fun competing in regardless of status. Some may say, "Well, it doesn't matter what status I'm in so long as I'm having fun dicing it up." But I'll tell you right now it will matter and be an issue which is what we need to stay away from.

So to recap:

Qualify, grid, race, and point them together but honor the Amateurs at the end of the season for their achievements.

Honoring the amateurs at the end of the season is most likely the suitable solution. However, another viable solution may be...extend the trophy/contingency from 1st - 6th place like someone had mentioned. This way, if an amateur podiums (6th) they're still rewarded for their achievement but problem with that is that most of those spots may be taken by experts. So the former suggestion is prolly the best suggestion.

Also, I think an Amateur should be allowed to stay as an Amateur for a maximum of 2yrs.

So guess what Shane says to me the other day. He might just finish out this season on the SV but jump into the 250's to be with us after that. Cuz we are the awesomes! Okay I added that last part myself but still. Kick him out to expert.

This weekend I was at Buttonwillow (trackday riding) mainly to help advertise the 250 class - a 600cc racer rented my bike and let me tell ya...the smile from ear to ear after ever session pretty told me he was sold. At the end of the day he said, "Okay, I'm gonna sell my 600." LOL

But another good news...Dustin and Aimee were there, and we got to talking...well, actually they're the ones who flagged me down and mentioned about this thread (yup, the staff & owners of CVR are monitoring this thread). Well, after a long talk and without getting into too much details , let me just say if you're an amateur GOOD THINGS ARE TO COME.

And if you're not fighting for the top amateur position(s), well here's your wake up call.

We got 6 more races to go!
