Odd sound (don't worry, NOT gas tank) :D
Yesterday I get off work early in the AM, and it's COLD. I warm up the bike and start making my way to the parking garage exit. When I hear a high pitched squeaking.
It seems to start at about 5-10mph, and stops shortly before 20mph. The speed of the squeak changes with speed which has me thinking it's something rubbing with one of the wheels. The sound is JUST like the sound of a cars low brake pad squeak. Do our bikes even have a low brake pad squeaker? The brakes look normal to me, but I'm no pro on motorcycle brakes. I've also looked at the tires and theirs no odd wear patterns on them from rubbing against anything. Applying either/both brake(s) does not effect the sound at all. So what else is common to squeak like low brakes that a bike newb such as myself could easily miss? It's a 2009, no real mods, just rolled over to 2,000 miles. The rubber 0-rings in the chain don't squeak do they? TIA Chris |

Thanks Kkim. That was good readin'. My search skills must just be going downhill with old age. I just went down to further troubleshoot it, and now that I have some ideas, it won't do it.
Guess that's just Mr. Murphey hard at work. |

when the noise does start back up, try giving it a shot of wd40 and see if that's the problem. if it helps, greasing the seal lip next time the front wheel is taken off should solve it for good.

Jep jep, Gonna grease it up even if it doesn't start back up and get it torqued propperly. I got some Sport Demons that I need to mount anyway, so it's no big deal. Kinda more of inspiration to actuall get the tires changed.
