oh come on, where's the horn and bouncing off the rev limiter before getting next to them, yelling for a few minutes, trying to hit their mirror off while you are next to them..... you know, "the drill!"

good job btw. handled perfectly both bike and yourself.

I always pay attention to the oncoming right turn when I make lefts for that exact reason. I've found 90% of cagers have varying levels of downs.

Somebody has to watch them if they won't watch themselves I guess!

I bet if you laid into a car horn, he would have turned his head. He knew he was wrong, that's why he sped up. Sorry SOB didn't even maintain his lane when he turned. 2 left turning lanes had the right-of-way(green light). Those types are the ones that hit and run.

Do you ride with high beams on?

All the more reason to have a camera set-up as part of your "gear." I see a lot of that type of stuff in my area aka "California Roll," where they don't even stop. They just do this hesitation slow down and then roll right through.

During the day a motorcycle and its rider are often times viewed against a background that camouflages them. A driver can look right at you, but be unable to see or recognize you until you are in close proximity.

Handled it well...emotionally. Should have definitely given him the horn or rev-limiter treatment.

I had a situation requiring anticipation on the way to work today. There was a SUV right next to me (on the right) and I noticed his tires getting closer to the line. I see this often, so I either figured they were getting over (no turn signal) or just not paying attention in their lane, so I slowed down to where he wasn't next to me and moved to the leftern-most portion of my lane. As he started getting over the line I laid on the horn and he immediately jerked back over into his lane and had a stupid look on his face :P

Yep, they are looking for a car to see if it is clear. You are invisible. Except that fact or stop riding. Even being surprised would have been a wast of energy.
OP well done.

Nicely done. Pretty surprised he didn't see you, but at the same time it is to be expected.

A healthy level of paranoia while riding can save your skin.

I usually ride around with my brights on in hopes it helps increase visibility.

Ditto on the bright lights. Plus when I come to intersections like this or where cars are looking to pull out I'll SMIDSY swerve in my lane to make sure people from all directions see me.

Yeah man.

I was looking for some leathers on craigslist right before I had purchased the Ninja 250 (my first bike) and eventually met up with a guy who had a nice jacket and pants for sale, unfortunately they were really sized more for kids to they turned out to be a good bit too small.

The guy apparently used to race bikes back in the day and had ridden for decades. He told me if I were to walk away with only one piece of advice, ride with my brights on at all times. It'll probably piss off a few folks but the more visibility you have while riding the greater your chances of survival. People are simply not conditioned to look for motorcycles.

Although I didn't get any leathers I walked away with some valuable advice.

At night I will turn my brights off if there are cars around me. Don't need to go blinding people causing them to crash into you lol.

I had a dude ride behind me one time at night with his brights on and I couldn't see ****. Had to literally lower myself into my seat so the reflection of his lights off my mirrors wouldn't completely disable me.

Using the high beams is a good way to increase conspicuity, as long as it is within the bounds of the law.

You even straightened the bike up before braking: very well done !!!

It seems that the windshield column was blocking the driver's view of you (not that he was trying hard to see you).

This is "Oh, I can make this turn before anyone turns left ... oh $%#@ that bike's already here! Zoooooommmmmm"

I have this happen to me ALL the time whether on the ninjette (and I wear a hiviz-yellow helmet, the Bell Revolver Hiviz) or in a large, conspicuous minivan. They all know they're wrong and they nearly all get a defensive attitude because of it. Good job handling this one.

I'm surprised Jiggles hasn't come in here and congratulated you for not tucking the front like you usually do

I kid.

Nice job keeping a cool head. That's more than a lot of riders can say.

Yea, that's wicked common around here. I'm actually shocked when a person managed to make a right hand turn from the far right lane into the far right lane (or similarly)
